just a concept for now, but here are some basics:

• syo is a yokai/witch hybrid
  • hes a white witch! works mainly with medicines
  • his yokai and witch parts do not mix well
  • some even wonder how hes alive
  • cant use magic spells for too long because of this
  • being a kitsune yokai means that syo doesnt particularly care about any deities normally worshiped by witch families, which sometimes gets him in trouble
  • he is also a shapeshifter!
  • however, syo cant stay in a different form for too long, especially if he hasnt practiced beforehand
  • he turns back and can't hide his ears and tail for a certain period of time
  • in the case he really gets close to hurting himself, more fox characteristics might show up
• ren is a vampire/witch hybrid
  • third son of the jinguji clan, he was raised as a pureblood vampire to avoid. issues
  • his family (save for his brothers) made sure to cut any contact to witch origins and their costumes
  • gets in trouble with his family often because of his interest in magic
  • his brothers have already accepted they cant temper with it openly, and try to warn ren of this. sometimes he gets away with it thanks to them
  • is actually very talented w magic, though he doesnt get to practice very often
• tokiya is a pureblood witch
  • his love for magic and its study has always been greatly appreciated by his family
  • this is why he mostly doesnt notice how strict they are—hes only used to what they approve: the textbook, standard kind of magic
  • LOVES potion-brewing, despite his obvious talent with spells
  • because of his status as a "genius", the council has had an eye on him for a while
  • while his true love has more to do with being a white witch, he works mostly with spellcasting because of pressure from his family and the council
  • he loves all kinds of magic and uses them to help other creatures (sometimes even a lucky human or two!)
• cecil is a bakeneko!
  • well, bakeneko/witch hybrid
  • cecil spent his childhood raised as pureblood witch—until his ears and tail manifested
  • once that happened, his family practically exiled him
  • well versed in most uses of magic, though prefers the more uncommon use of music (singing) to do spellcasting
  • unlike syo, cecil's hybrid blood does not affect his magical capacity
  • though his magical powers remain intact, his yokai abilities do not
  • cannot for the life of him hide his ears and tail.
  • devoted to the goddess of music, much like his witch family
  • doesnt care for witch customs however
• masato is a demon from the hijirikawa clan
  • masato hijirikawa is the second most well known candidate for the devil's throne. he was raised to compete for it
  • he... doesnt actually care about the throne, but keeps this an absolute secret. he'll be crushed if found out
  • very nice and polite to everyone he knows, which is... somewhat unusual for demons
  • wasnt very used to leaving the demon realm until meeting otoya
  • gets in Some trouble because of it, but hes starting not to care so much
  • would go to heaven and back for his little sister.
• natsuki is a werewolf!
  • was turned on purpose by someone he trusted as a kid
  • natsuki has very poor control of his instincts and bloodlust
  • satsuki switches with him during blood moons to protect him and other people
  • this is why hes so irritable most of the time. hes a very stressed boy
  • theyre aware of each other's existence!!!!
  • natsuki, to a bunny: you're so cute i could eat you up!
  • satsuki: (sweating)
• otoya is an imp!
  • bakeneko/imp hybrid
  • his dad is kind of like. the devil
  • he and cecil are brothers on his mom's side, who is a bakeneko, a cat yokai.
  • otoya's the main candidate for the demon throne, being satan's kid. as the next ruler is decided through competition, he's more of a "crown prince"—quotes included.
  • despite what others may think, he has huge responsibilities as a "prince" and you cant really tell hes overwhelmed since hes always smiling
  • demons should lie well, no?
  • otoya's often called "unlikely prince", a nickname originated from his sunshine smile and Actually princely attitude
• camus is also a pureblood witch!
  • albeit still living, he was taken to the underworld when he was 8 as a payment for keeping his (until then) ill mother alive
  • her majesty queen of the underworld's most favored witch
  • leaves his studies in the underworld to join the high magic council
  • hes known as an 'elemental witch', meaning his power is naturally drawn from a primary source of magical energy
  • in his case, water
  • barely uses water in its liquid state however, opting for the sharpness of ice
  • (it reminds him of the ice-cold fire of the underworld. he cant help it.)
  • it seems his queen and the devil are in cahoots to put him in a group with three other remarkable individuals
• reiji is a ???
• ranmaru is a ???
• ai is a homunculus, you can guess why
  • very well versed in magic
  • not acknowledged as a witch for his artificial origin, despite being an elemental wind witch by definition
  • increasingly curious about the effects emotions can have in spell casting

interactions:

• syo and cecil live together, while otoya lives in the demon realm. this is why theyre all buddies.
• syo & cecil is yokai witch solidarity. syo helps cecil when he needs help with his yokai abilities, cecil is there for anything magic-related syo might need help with
• masato tries to keep a respectful distance from otoya since hes the devil's son and his family's main rival for the throne
• keyword here being tries. otoya and masato end up as unlikely friends, always being pushed to the same kind of classy demon events
  • natsuki & satsuki met syo while looking for medicine to help with natsuki's bloodlust
• both natsuki and satsuki trust syo COMPLETELY. syo had plenty of chances to trick the both of them into paying higher prices or selling them shitty medicine. he didnt, however, and theyre the first ones to jump into action if syo ever needs help
• otoya, cecil and natsuki all hang out with syo in his lil shop very often, so albeit satsuki is usually annoyed, he tolerates cecil and otoya as well
• camus, syo and tokiya are all in the same coven, established by camus with his rights as a council member
• ai, being the curious little shit he is, visits camus' council often enough to be considered a honorary member. often hangs out with tokiya and syo there, and they help each other during study sessions.
