On how to get the most out of studying:

  • There are no studies to support the theory of "learning styles". What is more important is that, to be successful, you need to constantly addapt and use multiple learning styles and methods.
  • Also, there is no such thing as multi-tasking, not when you are trying to get the most out of studying. Minimizing distractions is the way to go.
  • Choose to focus on deep, appropiate processing of critical concepts and practicing retrieval and application.
  • Deep learning strategies focus on meaning, comprehension and visual imagery.

Principles for achieving deep processing:

  • Elaboration: How does this concept relate to other concepts?
  • Distinctivness: How is this concept diffe...

  • Time is very short. It seems very long if you fuck it around and very short is you’re using it wisely. If you spend time like a dumb-ass, you’ll say ‘It feels like yesterday (that was 5 years ago)…’. If you’re get busy and start being productive, at the end of every week you look back at Monday and say ‘What the fuck, I thought that was last month…’. See the difference here?

Conformity is not a necessary element when it comes to maturity. Don’t say yes to a job offer just because you need extra money on your side. Don’t let your busy school/job schedule get in the way of exploring your environment. Forget about those nonsensical health and beauty tips you read about. Learn to love yourself, and find out what works out for your body and what doesn’t. Set your goals high, not just because you feel the pressure of having to do better than your peers. Set them high because you know what you want, and you also know how to get what you want. Challenge yourself. Forget what “they say” and stay true to untainted morals. Your life should not be interrupted by those around you, and is not meant to be a mundane set of conventional achievements that coincides directly with your parents and peers.

Go far against the grain and travel light...

  • Try to use waiting time - review notes or do practice problems.
