kazuya tries to put together a future he can live with, and sawamura’s right there to make a mess of it.

this. this was an adventure For Sure. reading "crossfire" was an enticing experience. miyuki's characterization in this fic is so?? *chef's kiss* i think it's written wonderfully, and the rest of the story itself. there's meaning to everything – and ngl, i think about crossfire misawa now when it comes to the giants oops. left a long lasting impact on me. quotes hurt. <///3

eijun sawamura, eighteen years old, obsessed with music, and living away from home for the first time, spends his days on his college campus with his best friend, haruichi kominato. but after he meets kazuya miyuki, a charming and enigmatic bartender and record store manager, at a party on a cold november night, his life shifts dramatically. as he forces his way into miyuki’s life (first as an employee, then as a close friend), he is forced to reckon with the complicated consequences of his actions. he soon finds that he’s bitten off much more than he can chew. his obsession with miyuki starts to suffocate him, even as he forges strong friendships with the people around him. he struggles to navigate what it means to love—and what it means to be loved.

no, i didn't cry. but it left a massive lump in my throat... eijun's growth and development is something that i, personally, related to in some way. for the sake of the story, it might be a little ooc but i think it works. it makes me sad but at the end of the fic, it's a life lesson.

some say laughter is the cure for everything, but they obviously never heard miyuki laugh...

ngl i might need to reread.. i don't remember finishing it uhh

eijun is mostly convinced that all of this is an elaborate joke by the universe itself. he just blurted it out when he realized it - unfortunately, while the whole seido baseball team was in the room. so now everybody knows he's in love with miyuki, even though no one takes it seriously, including the captain himself.
