  • far away from city
  • above pollution

(so Aurora Village, Yellowknife is good, or away from artificial lights in Whitehorse or Churchill)

  • around midnight
  • around spring equinox, maybe just before (march 20 this year)
  • time of year with less precipitation (so no clouds)
  • new moon (brightness of moon makes it harder to see)
  • sometime around high point in 11-year cycle (which this is)

So look at calendar for when moon is not showing or tiny around this time, then BOOK.

ETA: new moon is 22 march and full moon 6 april, so looks like it will have to be near end of march! or around 21 april.
