Julie Christensen This reminds me of Nicholas Kristoff's book, Half The Sky. He wrote it with his wife. It's about how women are oppressed in most societies. Each chapter covers a different problem in a different part of the world and although it can be upsetting to read, each chapter ends with an inspirational person (usually a woman) who has made an incredible, life changing difference for at least one other woman. It gives the reader lots of ways to make a difference, too. It's a great book. I can't recommend it enough.
