  • Wedding Fever: Since June is the most popular month to get married, read a book where a wedding takes place.
  • Candy Shop: June is Candy Month. Celebrate the sweet tooth by reading a book that represents candy in a general or specific way. It could have a picture of candy on the cover, a character could love candy, or be a candy maker/seller, be named after candy, or the book title or author is named after a candy. Examples: Reese, Ruth, Candy, Candice: Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec
  • 3. Cat People: Since it's National Adopt a Cat Month, let's read a book that includes a cat of any kind in the storyline. You could also use a book that has a cat on the cover: Naked in Death by J.D. Robb [cat in the storyline]
  • 4. I Dare You!: For Dare Day on June 1st, take me up on a dare. Read a book that's out of the norm for you, finish off a series, read a new to you author. You could also read a book where the main character does something 'daring.': For the Roses by Julie Garwood [new author]
  • 5. Name Your Poison: This day on June 8th is related to the saying in which you pick from a series of options, aka "Name Your Poison." You can come up with your own way to meet this category, or you could read a book that relates to making a hard choice, or has a storyline involving poisons of some kind. If you like mysteries, you're in the money!: The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley [storyline involving poisons]
  • The Meaning of the Rose: Since June is Rose Month, use a book to represent a different meaning of the various colors of roses. Red, for lovers, signifies enduring passion; white, humility and innocence; yellow, friendship and joy; pink, gratitude, appreciation and admiration; orange, enthusiasm and desire; white lilac and purple roses represent enchantment and love at first sight.
  • Smile Power!: For June 15th, Smile Power Day, read a book that makes you smile, or with a character who is always smiling.
  • Don't Panic!: June 18th is International Panic Day, but let's not. Instead, read a book where a character is in a tough situation and struggles not to, but doesn't panic in the end.
  • Father Knows Best: The third Sunday of June is Father's Day. Let's acknowledge dads by reading a book with a father/child relationship, even if it's not by blood.
  • The Longest Day of the Year: Summer Solstice is June 21st this year, and it's the longest day of the year and the metrological start of summer. Read a book that represents the 1st day of summer to you.
  • Forgiveness is Golden: June 26th is a day to forget and forgive. Read a book about giving or receiving forgiveness.
