  • Even if someone says they want you to be 100% honest with them you still have to lie a bit because sometimes the truth doesn't change just hurts the person.
  • The clumsiest person you know is also, probably, the most promiscuous.
  • The things that happen to you that should be life changing [such as sitting with a man and holding his hand as his life is ending, watching the sun rise from the summit of Kilimanjaro, falling in love...] often make no difference to you as a person. It's the mundane moments that are far more likely to change your life. It'll hit you when you're cleaning your bathroom or as you're queuing in a shop.
  • For their intolerance, pity those who hate you; For your tolerance, don't hate them back.
  • We will never grow out of disney films.
  • It's a good idea to keep a list of compliments you've been paid because there'll be times when you're gonna need a shot of confidence!
  • Whatever your pre-conceptions; you're probably wrong.
  • If you find yourself inexplicably disliking your ex's new girlfriend that probably means that you're not accepting the blame for the breakup, when you should. If you find yourself feeling sorry for her then it probably means that you're normal.
  • Nobody can be trusted fully with keeping secrets. Not even me, it seems.
  • Blondes are bad in bed. They're also not so hot at kissing. Men and women, although I have no experience with the latter, I've been reliably informed.
  • The right song at the right moment can change everything. [Or, the wrong song at the wrong time...but we won't go there.] It just shows the power of music.
  • Everyone has to have someone they can cry with and empty their hearts to. If it's your mother, your partner, your best friend or a doesn't matter, it's a better therapy than you could ever pay for.
  • There is not just one person for everyone.
  • Perspective is a difficult thing to find in depression. You will eventually find yourself feeling like nobody else in the world could possibly be feeling as bad as you. And then when you get better, a few months down the line, you'll feel guilty about thinking that way.
  • Being pretty gets you places in life. It furthers your career. It gets you out of trouble when you find yourself in it.
  • Being pretty also causes some problems. A lot of people inexplicably dislike you; they make assumptions about you and your motives. It sometimes undermines your worth as a person.
  • The people who seem most confident are actually the most insecure and the shyest people are in-fact quite happy with themselves.
  • If you want to grow your hair, don't mess with it too much or you'll find it gets shorter.
  • Love brings extremes to your life; extreme bliss and extreme pain. You just have to hope that the former outweighs the latter.
  • When you don't like someone it's likely to be because you are too similar.
  • To quote Nada Surf, "Don't put off breaking up when you know you want to; prolonging the situation only makes it worse. Tell them honestly, simply, kindly but firmly. Don't make a big production, don't make up an elaborate story; this will help you avoid a big tear-jerking scene. If you want to date other people, say so. Be prepared for the boy to feel hurt and rejected. Even if you've gone together for only a short time and haven't been too serious there's still a feeling of rejection when someone says she prefers the company of others to your exclusive company but if you're honest and direct and avoid making a flowery emotional speech when you break the news the boy'll respect you for your frankness and honestly, he'll appreciate the kind, straight-forward manner in which you told him your decision. Unless he's a real jerk or cry-baby, you'll be friends." I couldn't agree more.
  • You'll go through phases and try to be someone else but sometime, hopefully not too late, you'll suddenly realise that YOU are YOU and it'll make you smile.
  • Things always seem worse at night so try not to be rash and wait until the morning before taking action.
  • You need to be the sort of person who makes things happen for themselves. It's all too easy to sit back and let life come your way. If you want to make a difference then you have to throw yourself out there and grab any opportunity you can.
  • The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
  • You will steal quotes from romantic musicals occasionally. It's cool though.
  • There's a difference between being 'alone' and being 'lonely'. But both can be good for you every so often.
  • At some point people WILL spread lies about you. When this happens, the worst thing to do is spread them back. Remember what Rudjard Kipling said: "Being lied about, don't deal in lies." Be the bigger person and keep in mind that people who believe the lies aren't worth talking to anyway.
  • If you let a man choose your outfit for you, rest assured, he WILL put you in hot pants and a bikini top...and not see a problem with it.
  • People can be really horrible about you when they think that you'll never know what they said.
