  • A boy who kills cannot love, a boy who kills has no heart!
  • And take extra care with strangers, even flowers have their dangers. And though scary is exciting, nice is different than good.
  • But he drew me close and he swallowed me down, down a dark slimy path, where lie secrets that I never want to know.
  • But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?
  • But I just go on thinking and sweating, and cursing, and crying, and turning, and reaching, and waking, and dying!
  • But then what if he knew who you were, when you know that you're not what he thinks that he wants?
  • Careful the things you do. Children will see and learn. Children may not obey, but children will listen.
  • Every day a little death, in the parlor, in the bed, in the lips and in the eyes (...), in the murmers, in the gestures, in the pauses, in the sighs (...), in the heart and in the head, in the looks and in the lies.
  • Everything's different. Nothing's changed. Only maybe slightly rearranged.
  • He smiles sweetly, strokes my hair, says he misses me. I could murder him right there, but first I die.
  • He talks softly of his wars, and his horses, and his whores!
  • I chose and my world was shaken. So what? The choice may have been mistaken; the choosing was not.
  • I'm not good, I'm not nice, I'm just right.
  • It's a very short road from the pinch and the punch to the paunch and the pouch and the pension.
  • It's his father's fault that the curse got placed and the place got cursed in the first place!
  • It's things like using force together, shouting till you're hoarse together, getting a divorce together, that make perfect relationships. (...) It's people that you hate together, bait together, date together, that make marriage a joy!
  • Let the moment go! Don't forget it for a moment, though. Just remembering you've had an "and", when you're back to "or", makes the "or" mean more than it did before.
  • Let them curse me to hell, leave it to history to tell: what I did, I did well, and I did it for my country.
  • Life is often so unpleasant, you must know that as a peasant, best to take the moment present as a present for the moment.
  • Men are stupid, men are vain. Love's disgusting, love's insane, a humiliating business!
  • Oh, if life were made of moments! Even now and then a bad one! But if life were only moments, then you'd never know you had one.
  • Our moment, shimmering and lovely and sad. Leave the moment, just be glad for the moment that we had. Every moment is of moment when you're in the woods...
  • Princes wait there in the world, it's true. Princes, yes, but wolves and humans, too.
  • Somebody hold me too close. Somebody hurt me too deep. Somebody sit in my chair and ruin my sleep, and make me aware of being alive.
  • Sometimes people leave you halfway through the wood. Others may decieve you - you decide what's good. You decide alone, but no one is alone.
  • Tell me not to go. Tell me that you're hurt, tell me you're relieved... tell me that you're bored, anything, but don't assume I know.
  • The prettier the flower, the farther from the path.
  • Then from out of the blue and without any guide, you know what your decision is, which is not to decide.
  • There are mouths to be kissed before mouths to be fed (...), and there's many a tryst, and there's many a bed, to be sampled and seen in the meanwhile.
  • There are vows, there are ties, there are needs, there are standards, there are shouldn'ts and shoulds.
  • There's the answer, if you're clever: have a child for warmth, and a baker for bread, and a prince for... whatever!
  • To flirt with rescue when one has no intention of being saved.
  • To wish and wait from day to day will never keep the wolves away.
  • We want four. We had none. We've got three. We need one. It takes two.
  • What's the good of being if everyone is blind, always leaving you behind?
  • You said you loved me, or were you just being kind? Or am I losing my mind?
