kind of a completed the goal for the year: watched 12 movies by female directors. kind of - because most of them watched with some skipping/in a non-linear way.
Full list:
- (f) (with some skipping & watching some bits in a non-linear way) L'avenir / Things to Come (2016, France, Mia Hansen-Løve), Dec 2?
- (f) (with a lot of skipping and bad subtitles) Victoria / In Bed with Victoria (2016, France)
- (f) La belle saison (2015, France, dir. Catherine Corsini), Oct 14
- (f) Sworn Virgin / Vergine giurata (2015, Italy), Oct 13
- Elle (2016, France, dir. Paul Verhoeven), Oct 1
- Quand on a 17 ans / Being 17 (2016, France, Celine Sciamma is a co-writer) , Sep 24
- Ich will dich / I Want You (2014, Germany), Sep 17, in a non-linear way
- (f) Gut zu Vögeln (2016, Germany), Sep 1, in a non-linear way, with some skipping. A suprisingly pleasant, non-annoying movie-for-a-wide-audience. Anja Knauer / Merlin was good.
- (f) Sangailes vasara / The Summer of Sangaile (2015, Lithuania, dir. Alante Kavaite), Sep 1, in a non-linear way, with some skipping. Was often contrived, but in a non-annoying way, the student-film-quality way. Watched the parts I didn't see last time I watched parts of this movie (a few months ago), rewatched the ones I'd seen. There were nice real moments of non-Hollywood style of life wisdom and care.
- (f) Für eine Nacht... und immer? (2015, Germany), Sep 1, in a non-linear way, with some skipping. Marc Benjamin is cute and a good actor.
- (f) Liz en Septiembre / Liz in September (2014, Venezuela), Aug 25, with a bit of skipping
- (in a non-linear way) Das Zimmermädchen Lynn / The Chambermaid Lynn (2014, Germany), Aug 25
- (TV) (with skipping, esp. season 2) Les Reventants (2012, 2015, France), season 1-2, Jul 27 - Aug 8. Fav: Julie & the boy, Julie & Laure, madame Costa.
- (TV) (with a bit of skipping - violence, RU mafia) The Tunnel (2013, UK & France), season 1 & 2, Jul 18-20. Quite good, especially bc of Eryka & Elise storyline
- (with a lot of skipping) Patrick, age 1.5 (2008, Sweden), Jul ~5
- (with some skipping) Xenia (2014, Greece/Albania), Jul ~4, a fresh one!
- (f) Vivere (2007, Germany, dir. Angelina Maccarone), Jun 28-Nune29 with skipping and July 1 fully - "Francesca" is great, and liked the dynamics between the key two characters (it was therapeutic and timely for me), and there was something of my sensibilities in that movie.
- (with a lot of skipping) A Bigger Splash (2015, Italy, Luca Guadagnino) with Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson
- (with some skipping) Love & Friendship (2016, USA, dir. Whit Stillman) - a comedy with Kate Beckinsale and Chloë Sevigny, Jun 11

- (with a lot of skipping) How to Be Single (2016, USA) - watched bc of Dakota Johnson and Jake Lacy
- (with skipping) The Wait / L’attesa (2015, Italy) with J Binoche, Apr 20 - the trailer is much better than the movie (promises more than the movie is)
- (with skipping) Virgin Mountain / Fúsi (dir Dagur Kárim, 2015, Iceland), Apr 9 - was therapeutic
- (skipped more than 60%) Hail, Caesar! (2016, USA), Apr 7
- (skipped more than 50%) In the Courtyard / Dans la cour (2014, France) - C Deneuve + depression
- (rewatch) The Shawshank Redemption (1994, USA) with a bit of skipping, Mar 11
- Grandma (2015, USA), Mar 11
- (f) Bright Days Ahead / Les beaux jours (2013, France) with Fanny Ardant & a youngster, Feb 2
- I Kissed a Girl / Toute première fois (2015, France), with a bit of skipping, Jan 30 - it has 1 great microscene (the way she looks at him/stands in that farewell-but-he-changes-his-mind scene by the car) and the dialogue in the beginning is kinda good too

- (with skipping) An Affair To Remember (1957, USA, with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr), Jan 7-8 - watched bc of Carey Mulligan' interview. not excited.
Best of so far (seen for the 1st time, not rewatches):
- Wetlands / Feuchtgebiete (2013, Germany)
- Virgin Mountain / Fúsi (dir Dagur Kárim, 2015, Iceland)
