- A broad and enjoyable sense of humor
- If you take everything too seriously and can't laugh at yourself and/or make others laugh, then you're headed for a heart attack at an early age and a very lonely end, in my honest opinion. I love people who are smiling and goofy and have a laugh that's contagious, no matter the circumstances.
- Fairness/balance
- Strong personal boundaries are important. Especially when your boundaries don't align with someone else's. Also, being able to admit when you are in the wrong and apologize for overstepping someone else's boundary is admirable. Trust me, I know how VERY hard apologizing can be.
- Independence
- You're not afraid to lean on someone in times of need, but when you think you can handle the healing process alone, you stop leaning. You sit up, wipe away the tears and move on with life the best you can. You are also strong enough to allow others to lean on you in their times of need. You don't expect others to help you up and hold you up and be your leg to walk on for the rest of your life. In short, you don't actually NEED anyone to walk with you through life, but you don't mind the company.
- Compassion & Understanding
- It speaks for itself, I think. Now I don't require anyone to be a complete sap, but to try and lend a hand here and there when you know something isn't right is definitely an admirable quality. You are not judgmental and you are accepting of the fact that things that aren't right for you might feel right to someone else. Someone once said something to me that made me realize this and I have never forgotten it. "There are always haters. No matter how good or bad you are, the truth is there's always going to be people who like what you do and people who hate it. Everyone does something different."
