Without lists, I don't think I'd ever sort out my thoughts. This brain of mine never seems to rest and the things that run through it reflect the beats in my chest...

  • Hellogoodbye
    • Optimistic love-pop at its finest!
  • Hole
    • Courtney Love's name really carries the band, but I can't help but enjoy the really enjoyably, awful rock that comes from them. The guitars sound crunchy and the entire band just abuses their instruments in such a delightfully ugly way that I'm hooked from the second I hear the opening to "Miss World." Courtney Love may be kind of a train wreck on the downhill slope, but some part of me will always be that 13 year old girl who totally looked up to her.
  • ABBA
    • The entire reason that I watched "Muriel's Wedding" in the first place.
    • Also another reason why the shiny, disco-balled, gold-sequined Coach bag at Macy's is secretly on my Wish list, even though I will probably never own it because I know that no one will buy it for me and even if I had the money to spend on a $300 bag I wouldn't. If I ever own anything like it, it won't be a Coach. I know I can find an identical-looking bag at Forever 21 on the clearance rack for about 6 bucks. LOL
  • The Bloodhound Gang
    • I'm actually a little embarrassed sometimes to realize that I still own "Hooray For Boobies" and have parts of it memorized. Perhaps I'm starting to shed bits of my juvenile humor and realize that the entire album is really kind of crass, but I still find certain parts of it amusing...like the Pac-Man bit. I will admit that I'm really sick of "The Bad Touch."
  • Billy Idol
    • "It's a nice day for a...white wedding!" Seriously, how can you not love that song? "Rebel Yell" is also fun, especially his VH-1 Storytellers version where he belts out "This song is so...CHEESY!" LOL
  • Britney Spears
    • Okay, so I only own 2 of her albums and none of them have "Hit Me Baby One More Time" on them. (Thank goodness!) The older she gets, though, the more I appreciate her music. I will say, though, that she also gets lazier with her performances.
  • Marylin Manson
    • I was a huge fan of his music in junior high, but as I got older, I outgrew it. Occasionally, I still listen to it and find myself somewhat shocked when I realize things about it that I couldn't have grasped in junior high.
  • Cabaret Voltaire
    • Goth/Industrial music at its finest. People who don't understand listen to it and think "What the fuck are you listening to?" I can't explain it, but you can blame my late husband for getting me hooked. Some of it, I will admit, is entirely too weird for me.
  • Counting Crows
    • I don't really listen to them all that often, but when I do, I can't help but enjoy it.
  • Culture Club
    • They should be a staple in everyone's music library. If I were a gay man, I'd want to be Boy George.
  • The Cunninghams
    • They only had two songs that they were really known for; "Bottle Rockets" and "Wanna Be." (In fact, I saw them live and I think they only played 2 songs of their own while the rest were covers. So it's entirely possible that they only had 2 songs of their own.) The songs are so delightfully bad that I still love them and know every word. Sometimes when I remember them, I feel a little sad that they aren't still a band.
  • The Cure
    • Because no one understands like they do... That's meant to be ironic, of course. However, I do love to listen to The Cure...sometimes when I'm crying in a corner. LOL
  • Deee-Lite
    • "Groove Is In The Heart" - Need I say more?
  • Fountains Of Wayne
    • I feel especially guilty that I laugh whenever I hear "Stacy's Mom" even though I know that if I were Stacy, I'd feel like complete shit and a little disgusted.
  • Jimmy Buffett
    • It is absolutely necessary to take at least one of his albums with you on vacation, especially if your vacationing in a tropical climate. Might as well enjoy it and learn it backwards and forward. On that note, you should also take Marty Robbins's "Isle Of Golden Dreams" and any Israel Kamakawiwo'ole album with you as well. It is necessary...absolutely necessary! LOL Just hearing that ukulele and the wail of Marty Robbins's voice makes me want to dig my feet in the sand and lay back with an icy blended drink and soak up the sun. It's powerful. Jimmy Buffett makes me want to eat a cheeseburger and grab a margarita or 4...
  • The Lovin' Spoonful
    • Every time I hear "Do You Believe In Magic?" I'm reminded of the McDonald's commercials that they aired when I was about 4 years old where Ronald McDonald looks through a window and waves at the group of kids sitting at a table nearby with absolutely no adult supervision. LOL I've loved that song ever since, even though I really don't like eating at McDonald's.
  • Madison Avenue
    • Really bad Australian techno...what else can I say? But it's sooo catchy! It's all about the Polyester Embassy!
  • The Monkees
    • This was a staple of my childhood that I just can't let go of. I'm not old enough to have seen the original series, but they showed the reruns on TV in the late morning, just before nap-time.
  • Night Ranger
    • Quite possibly the most memorable one-hit wonder for me...well, besides Toni Basil, A-Ha and Dexy's Midnight Runners. I might laugh when I hear "Sister Christian" but I still find the lyrics to hold somewhat true.
  • No Doubt
    • Every time I hear them, I think of Disney and Mickey Mouse. However, I still like the music. I know every word to "Tragic Kingdom" and I find "Rock Steady" to be a lot more musically in-depth. However, each album still sounds kind of the same to me so I don't listen to it that often.
  • OK Go
    • Another band that is so Disney-rock that it's not even funny. However, I can't help but enjoy their music. Plus the video for "A Million Ways" is probably on my top ten favorite videos of all time.
  • Paris Combo
    • I can't understand most of what they're saying but they really are magnificent. I'm assuming that they're speaking French, which I don't speak a lick of.
  • Quad City DJs
    • "Come ride the train (choo-choo) ride it!" Need I say more?
  • Randy Newman
    • I don't think I need to explain why I feel guilty when I tell people I own a Randy Newman album. It pretty much speaks for itself. LOL It's so cheesy and I have a special place in my heart for the masters of anything cheeseball...
  • Robert Pattinson
    • No, it's not the Twilight soundtrack. It's the soundtrack for "How To Be," which I have yet to see. It looks like a good movie, though. Regardless, unless he comes out with an album that actually showcases his best musical ability and becomes more famous for his music than for the movies he's acted in, I'll probably always feel a little guilty for liking his music. LOL Maybe not so much if he hadn't been in Harry Potter AND Twilight.
      • Okay, admittedly, I'm a huge fan of the Harry Potter movies (and the books) and I have seen all of the Twilight movies that have been released thus far. Which would be why I knew he was Cedric Diggory in "Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire." I suppose I should make a list of guilty pleasure movies and books. LOL
  • Tracy Bonham
    • Can't get to the coffee shop to listen to angry chick rock? Pick up her album "The Burdens Of Being Upright." This is from my junior high days. I'm usually pretty optimistic about life and this is a good reminder why I should be. Maybe that sounds ironic, but hey...I was born on the Day of Irony.
  • Upchuck
    • This band sounds like they wrote their own Broadway musical and put it on a CD. At first listen I thought to myself "What the fuck? This is totally going in the garbage." Then I kept hearing it when I put my iTunes on shuffle and it eventually grew on me and it never actually made it into the garbage. Even better, the album I have was given to me at a local show for my friend's band, Bender. (Which, Bender was an extremely heavy metal band. They're no longer together since 2 of the 3 members of the band moved to different states. I just thought it was funny that I got the Upchuck CD for free at a metal show.)
  • Kenny Rogers
    • Aside from "I Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" I have a hard time admitting to people that I really do enjoy his music. After all, ♫ "You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to throw 'em, know when to walk away and know when to run..."♫ CLASSIC!
