• I've been into VOCALOID and vocal synths in general since 2008, and got into the scene itself around late 2009, because I really liked GUMI.
  • My favorite vocals are Kagamine Rin, GUMI, Kasane Teto, KAFU, Adachi Rei, Matsudappoiyo, Yuzuki Yukari, Natsuki Karin, among many others.
  • My favorite producers are innumerable, and I listen to all kinds of music across all eras of the scene, but a few I especially love 100% to give you an idea of my taste are mikitoP, shr, R Sound Design, baker, Yuuki Miyake, owataP, cosMo, deadballP, agoaniki, wotaku, nuyuri, gomennasai ga ienakute, iyowa, Sheeno Mirin, Last Note, 150P
  • I believe the scene is in a positive trajectory and do not believe in overseas fandom doomerism! Project Sekai has brought many new talented producers (many of which are young) to the scene, there is a perfect marriage between the vtuber scene and the vocal synth scene (vtubers are pretty much nu-utattemita and have the same effect utattemita had in their hayday) and the community is more dedicated than ever to doing things that boost the exposure of both well known and newbie producers, like holding VOCACOLLE and miscellaneous themed events and having hashtags for sharing work (you'd be shocked to know the hashtags are a much too recent creation)
  • It's true for vocal synths themselves as well. The near monopoly of Yamaha has been broken. Many cool new vocal synths are coming out, and companies like Kamitsubaki Studio (incidentally a company lead by Vocaloid producers that produce for Vtubers) are putting out cutting edge vocals that people have been asking for this whole time. We're really hurting for a good male vocal though, Kanru's alphabet soup goings are just... okay. I want stuff with a mascot. Speech synths have been awesome this whole time!!!!! Singing synths will catch up soon.
  • I don't like realistic tuning that much and dislike it when people treat it as the only good tuning style. I prefer other styles so much more, but realistic tuning also has its place! As does everything!
  • You may have gotten the vibe already, but I don't really engage with vocal synth fans because I find them annoying and way too insular in their own little communities. I have my own opinions and points of view, but I don't say no to interacting with people who can behave like adults.
