• Alchemilla (Silent Hill mod): Very impressive for a fan-made mod. It's a little slow at first, and honestly even once it gets going, it's never very action-packed. The devs couldn't find anyone to implement weapons, enemies, or inventory, so you'd think the game would be almost unplayably boring, but the strength of the visuals makes it worth it. I hope whoever made this is hired by whichever studio is making Silent Hill these days, because the visuals were spot-on. The gameplay is very puzzle-oriented. It's basically like Silent Hill 1-3 without enemies, but it still manages to be surprisingly creepy. Without enemies though, there's never truly that same feeling of dread as in the real games. 7/10
  • Amnesia: The Dark Descent: 8/10
  • Bioshock: 10/10
  • Bioshock 2: Worth playing, but doesn't add much to the original. 7/10
  • FEZ: Amazing soundtrack and amazing visuals. For an indie game made by two people, it's phenomenal. I found myself taking screenshots almost every map. The story doesn't feel quite complete, unfortunately, and while there is much joy in discovering each new map and collecting cubes, there's never any big payoff (as you might expect given the whole world-is-going-to-explode plot introduced at the beginning). Or maybe I just never got that far, but I am over 150% complete and did a lot of the hidden codes that most players won't know to do unless they research online. I enjoy all the hidden things and references, but I'm hoping they aren't crucial to completing the game. Anyway, if you ever need a good game to chill out for awhile, this is it. 8.5/10
  • Goat Simulator: Pretty funny, but not a load of replay value. 6/10
  • It Moves: A game made in RPG Maker. It's a really short game. You can finish it less than 2 hours, probably more like 90 min. It looks like it could have been made in the late 90s, but in fact it was completed August 2014. This isn't really a detriment though, in fact it's charming and the graphic style may actually work to its advantage. The game still manages to be genuinely creepy despite being so 8-bit in appearance. The story is strong, based off a creepypasta, and is interwoven with unnerving exploratory gameplay taking place in the main character's surreal dreams. 6.5/10

  • Portal: 8.5/10
  • Portal 2: 10/10
  • RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe: A game which I think everyone needs. This game fucking defined my childhood. Many hours were spent watching my sister play, and many, many more were spent by myself playing. I may have played this game more than any other on the list. I feel like this game's style has even influenced my artwork, and it definitely provided me with a creative outlet. My sister and I were very excited to discover each new decorating theme pack as it emerged. 10/10
  • RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: About as much of an update as RCT1 needed. RCT3 is one I haven't played, but the change in style and hearing other people's opinions tells me I don't want to. The main difference between RCT 1 & 2 for me was that RCT2 has a scenario builder where you can spend all of eternity crafting a theme park before you ever enter actual gameplay. And in fact, I spent the vast majority of my time playing RCT2 in this building area. For awhile I was going online and downloading user-created content and maps for RCT2. Sometimes for, I don't know, 'stress relief,' I would enter a new scenario and then, rather than building or maintaining the park, slowly delete the rides and landscaping and paths until all the guests were forced out of the park. 10/10
  • Silent Hill: Despite being outdated and cheesy, it's still strong enough to be worth playing even in 2015. But if you've got to choose between this and Silent Hill 2 or 3, opt for the latter. 7/10
  • Silent Hill 2: Damn near perfect, from story to visuals to music... 10/10
  • Silent Hill 3: 9/10
  • Silent Hills PT: Well, the official Silent Hills game has been cancelled. Fuck. I played PT and it seemed extremely promising. I hope the whole thing isn't 100% scrapped... but even if it isn't, I'm sure Konami will fail to meet the standard set by PT.
  • The Stanley Parable: 6/10
  • TES: Skyrim: It's fucking embarrassing how much of my life I have spent playing this on both X-box and PC... 10/10
  • Thomas Was Alone: A puzzle game of moving different shaped rectangles through maps. Pretty simple and solid. Attaching personalities to the distinct rectangles felt a little forced, but it was also pretty funny at points. The story started to lose me a little towards the end. Great music. 7/10
  • Which: A very short free horror game (~25 min). Very cool black-and-white, heavy occlusion art style. You are trapped in a house and must escape by finding keys to locked doors. Compact, but powerful. 8/10
