  • GET SMARTER IN A WEEK PROGRAMME (helps practise with numbers + increase memory + think more creatively)
    • Daily hour of brain exercises + split into chunks ie., on way to work or at the gym
    • SAT - brush teeth with "wrong" hand + take a shower with eyes closed
    • SUN - Sudoku puzzle + brisk walk
    • MON - Oily fish for dinner + walk to work
    • TUES - select unfamiliar words in dictionary and work them into conversations
    • WED - go to Yoga, Pilates or meditation class + talk to someone you don't know
    • THURS - take a new route to work + watch Countdown
    • FRI (day before exam) - avoid caffeine, alcohol + memorize shopping list
    • Modafinil, "wakefulness promoter" / "concentration stamina" commercially in UK as Provigil, it treats narcolepsy. Or Ritalin, concentration enhancer for ADHD people.
      • 100 mg a day, everyday for a week.

    • Cattell III B - mix of words, numbers, logic
    • Culture Fair - heavy on shapes
  • Drink plenty of water, eat healthy, less than 3 units of alcohol a day

      • Learn by heart a To Do list of 10 or more jobs for the day that incorporates a route:
      • stroll to work / walk to the gym
      • mentally link each job with one location
      • buying a newspaper at the shops, dropping off dry cleaning in high street, calling home outside a cafe
      • Then ask the following questions:
        • What task follows buying the newspaper?
        • What job precedes phoning home?
        • The second job on the list?
        • Where on the list is the dry-cleaner's
      • Next day come up with a new list and increase the number of items to 20
    • BOOST YOUR SPATIAL AWARENESS
      • Navigate your way around the house blind folded
      • Sit in a chair and mentally walk round your house, visualizing every move
      • Or put 12 objects on a tray, memorise their location, get someone to move it about, guess which moved
    • CRUNCH MORE NUMBERS (keeping your mind nimble and always on the move with numerical teasers will improve your mathematical acuity)
      • Do these everyday:
          • Add your shopping in the queu before you pay
          • divide up bills when they come in
          • estimate quantities of things you pass, such as people in a group or trees in a garden
      • WIDEN WORD POWER (improves your understanding of the meaning of words)
        • Go for as many of these as possible:
          • Watch and play along Countdown
          • learn a new word everyday and use it often
          • make up anagrams of words
          • spend a day playing devil's advocate in every situation you come across
