aka how i locked in and went from a 1-2-0 average to a 1-4-0/1-4-1 average
RHETORICAL ANALYSIS
- DO
- READ THE PROMPT CAREFULLY
- Write an outline for your line of reasoning (thesis, topic sentence) before beginning to write
- for the thesis/topic sentences, be EXTREMELY VAGUE
- In the outline, include a separate section of bullet points of contextual points/implications/historical situation that you want to include somewhere in the commentary
- Focus on two paragraphs, and concentrate on the context surrounding the speech more rather than unpacking language details
- The last piece of evidence is useful to be the last line of the speech or letter, and explain the larger implications and why they end on the tone they end on
- Commentary structure:
- Snippet of evidence
- Why does this evidence make sense considering the audience
- What is the broader context and why is it overall impactful. What does this quote say in the larger picture
- more considerations for the sophistication point
- Is the writer writing to multiple audiences?
- What complex tones does the author have?
- If the text is a letter, what complicated relationship does the author have to the audience?
- DO NOT
- treat it like a cqc or do regular commentary/unpacking. you will get like no points for this.
SYNTHESIS
- tbh i just treat this like my apush dbqs and have gotten a 6 every time
