• afaik ive always been like this but i didnt know it was a thing specific to me until i read an interview in nickelodeon magazine (remember that?!). the guy said the french horn looks like mustard yellow.
  • i see colors and patterns in my minds eye instead of directly in my vision, which is more common among those with synesthesia.
  • i sometimes have tactile and taste sensations but rarely do i have olfactory ones, mostly because i have a pretty terrible sense of smell.
  • ironically i would be a light 0 to a solid 1 on the aphantasia scale. i have a rich inner world but my capacity for visualizing things is incredibly limited. i think synesthesia sort of makes up for that.
  • numbers, letters, days, months, words, holidays, sentences etc all have colors and patterns that have for the most part remained the same since i was a child.
  • while a lot of people will claim to color letters and numbers and the like, i find that they often do it consciously but for me its involuntary and sometimes i actually get distracted by it. it doesnt actually get in the way of anything but if i see the number '7' i get a flash of yellow in my minds eye. again, sometimes its a little distracting but im very used to it.
  • often my synesthesia reactions are influenced by the album color or just societal associations. my favorite album, mcrs three cheers for sweet revenge, is a solid black throughout but thats because the album cover is black and emo is heavily associated with black.
  • specific instruments dont necessarily give me specific reactions. it depends on how theyre played and the musical context.
