⠀⠀ 🍂 .. SEPTEMBER — SEPTEMBRE

" And then the sun took a step back, the leaves lulled themselves to sleep, and autumn awakened. ” – Raquel Franco

september, what a month! it is when i am at least glad that august has ended. the world begins to douse itself with rain and i am mostly free from the torments of summer (at least until winter arrives). for now we have the chilled mornings and blistering afternoons to keep us on our toes. layers upon layers, my northern friends. they will keep you safe!

Come September, children return to school, grownups to work, and the brain to the head. ” – Roger Rosenblatt

this month is also great because it's time to go back to school! now a lot of people don't like school, but i certainly do. it's the one constant in my life that keeps my brain up and active, i can learn every day, i can create, write, etc... it also helps that i'm in my dream university.

Notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature. ” – Friedrich Nietzsche

⠀⠀✦ mabon (MAH-bon) — sept. 21-24

september is the month of the pagan holiday mabon (MAH-bon), also known as the autumn equinox. it's the second harvest festival after lughnasadh, when fruits and vegetables are harvested and autumn begins. to honour my irish ancestry (though close to nonexistent in scientific genetics it certainly shows itself in other ways), i have decided to celebrate this holiday for the first time this year instead of perpetrating the typical consumerist "it's turning to fall so i must buy a leaf" mindset cycle that i usually have.
