- (aside: record your journey with audio. record the music of the places you see. record the ambient sound of the different nature spots. vocalize your thoughts.)
- (aside: remember to motorbike the length of the country. bring a hammock. make sure to get to Cambodia as well. a must.)
- (aside: as originally planned all those years ago, use Vietnam income as fuel for world travel. your life will *truly* begin if you can do this. you will unlock all the doors you've been wanting to unlock. workaway, money, travel, pay off debt, become more well-rounded. literally 0.00% downsides.)
- (aside: in your free time in Vietnam and with your free money, you can buy all kinds of photography/videography gear. you could pursue all your artistic passions and have the freedom to do so!!!!!!!)
- Da Nang is first choice. people say it's much less polluted and noisy than Hanoi and you can get a huge 2-bedroom apartment on the beach for no more than $500/month. 2nd choice Hai Phong, 3rd Hanoi. (note: da nang may be harder to get work at first, whereas hanoi it's impossible not to get work they say)
- $30/day is reported as way more than enough.
- $2000 will give you at least 6 weeks of free travel through the country and surrounding areas. at least 6 weeks, probably longer if you stretch it. that would give you more than enough time to find work.
- if you save $3000 you can go.
- others have said to bring $2000 "to be safe" so you could hack it with less. but do $2k (after airfare).
- just read someone else say they brought $2k and lived well for 6 weeks, didn't feel the need to look for work until 6 weeks in.
- just read another who said he's at his first job making $1300USD/month which is more than I make now for double the hours, and he's also saving $700USD/month "literally not worrying about money at all, could save more if I tried".
- another who says 'don't bother with any degree or anything, just show up and get a job. i did. $25/hr right out of the gate. i work 28 hours a week and save $1500 to $2000/month)
