Mostly I want to finish these books I've already started, some as long as a year ago. (Eek.)
- ✔ The Whisper of Glocken
- River in the Desert (my current nonfiction)
- Crow Planet (my other current nonfiction!)
- Black Horses for the King (a Jane request)
- Graceling
- The Thirteenth Tale
- The Elegance of the Hedgehog
- Great Books (Denby) (I was halfway through and just plain forgot to finish, but it was great)
- Caw of the Wild
- Snow Crash
- Battle Royale
- The Scent of Water
- The Love Letters (L'Engle)
- The Essays of E.B. White (a cheat; I dip into this all the time)
- Eastern Standard Tribe
- Makers
- Flyaway
- The Homeschool Liberation League
- the Lovelace bio
- He Leadeth Me, that priest bio I kept reading about last fall
- The Woman in White
(Ridiculous to have started so many and not finished them. I read a chapter of each, or two, or three, or in some cases fifty pages or more. And then got caught up in something else, for numerous reasons but never having to do with a lack of desire to finish the unfinished book. There are others I sampled and decided to skip. These are the ones that made the cut, books I keep talking about wanting to finish, meaning to finish. The goal for this summer is to actually finish them.)
Not yet begun, but patiently waiting (and most will no doubt keep right on waiting until fall):
- Mysterious Benedict Society & the Perilous Journey
- This House of Brede
- The Zookeeper's Wife
- Farm City
- The Day the Falls Stood Still
- A Reliable Wife
- The Dragon's Lair
- Tooth and Claw
- Nurture Shock
- A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
- Chasing Vermeer
- Three Cups of Tea
- The Silver Sun
- A Wizard of Earthsea
- Brideshead Revisited
- Outcasts United
- Conspiracy of Paper
- Homecoming
- The Day I Became an Autodidact
- The Weed that Strings the Hangman's Bag (on hold @ library)
- The Goose Girl & sequels
- The Girl of the Limberlost, because 17 people have said I should!
- The Possessed (the Russian books one, because it too is on hold), plus whatever Russian novels it makes me need to read
- Under Heaven (thanks to Chasing Ray review, lib request)
+ various comics & graphic novels before SDCC
So, huh, this is like four summers' worth of books.
