• get sucked into the Internet cycle: Gmail, Facebook, LiveJournal, Tumblr, online comics, "oh maybe I got an e-mail while I was catching up on xkcd?"
• watch TV shows I don't care about/actively hate.
• rant to my roommates (or whoever will listen) about how screwed up Quebec education is.
• download or unzip CDs.
• pop open iTunes, ostensibly as background music...but instead wind up listening to songs I love and have to focus on.
• write/look at pretty pictures.
• read books that have nothing to do with what I'm working on.
• stare at the page without actually writing on it.
• clean small, non-committal spaces (i.e. my desk, my pants drawer, the bathroom sink).
• try to convince myself to do the work outside.
• decide what Starbucks concoction I will reward myself with when I finish this infernal garbage.
• make lists on Listography.

sigh.
