- 500 Days of Summer
- The characterization, and the realness of the storyline make this movie really easy to relate to my own life. I love Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deshanel.
- Lost in Translation
- This movie really captures the essence of feeling lonely. I like that.
- Adventureland
- Really fun, and time warp-y. It is hard to distinguish if they're in present day or not other than the clothes. The characters are very fun, very real. I love the nerdiness of them.
- The Virgin Suicides
- Again, beautiful work by Coppola. Mysterious, great adaptation of the novel.
- My Sister's Keeper
- One of the only movies that has ever left me crying, no matter how many times I watch it.
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- This movie was a huge part of my childhood, and I loved it since I was really little (4 or 5), before it became "cool" to like it. I love the music, the claymation, how you can tell so many years of work went into it. It is the movie that has made me a Tim Burton fan forever.
- Digimon: The Movie
- So many childhood memories go along with this movie. Also, it's pretty funny. The Japanese version is more detailed, story oriented, but this one is entertaining.
- Blue Valentine
- The first movie I went to the theatre alone to. It was realistically sad, and happy at the same time. The contrasting of the relationship was so real, I nearly felt part of it. It kind of affirmed what I am starting to believe, and also made me think about the things I want in the future.
- Fight Club
- I need a slap in the face from Tyler Durdan . . . enough said.
- A Single Man
- Everything about this film screams how I want my life, minus the depression. I want intellectual conversations about fear and reality. I want to live in the early 60s, be part of the university scene. All the people exude class, and good taste - it's my dream world.
- Kurt Cobain About a Son
- This moive is wha triggered my undying love for Kurt Cobain and Nirvana in my early 20s. It captures the persosonality of the man in such a way that really makes him relatable and down to earth (to me), and also instills a deep sadness that he's no longer with us.
