• Perform DNA and RNA isolation, qPCR, protein analysis methods and cell culture. • Mouse care, husbandry and genotyping. • Assist with laboratory supply orders; maintain inventory. • Maintain a high level of detail in performing procedures and documentation of procedures • Perform maintenance of laboratory equipment; maintains records and procedures for management requirements. Tissue harvest and cell preparations in a TB Biohazard III lab • Genotyping of mice (DNA extraction, PCR, Agarose Gel Electrophoresis) • Managing mouse colony and maintaining mouse census • Lab manager, ordering supplies and record keeping • Flow cytometry • Assist in setting up immunological assays • Assist in general lab support Candidate will support general laboratory activities in the biology team within a drug discovery group. • Activities will entail preparation of buffers, maintenance of electronic inventories, performing routine molecular biology techniques (DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, restriction digests) and support mammalian tissue culture activities (Freeze and thaw cells, propagate, seed and count cells). • Individual must be self-motivated and be able to follow directions and multi-task in a team environment • Focused, organized, determined, analytical, rational, and intellectually honest. • Science background with some molecular biology courses included in the curriculum. • BS in Biology or Molecular Biology strongly preferred.
