name: edward q. nygma (formerly edward quincy nashton)

gender: cis man, he/him

orientation: i didn't think about it much. i liked men

canon: general dc universe, leaning slightly more towards the older comics

memories:

  • i was raised in a small trailer park home in north carolina, we were considered lower class
  • i was an unwanted only child. my mother was rarely around, and my father did the bare minimum of raising me
    • my father was abusive, both physically and verbally. i held no love for him, and him none for me
    • i never saw him again once i left home
  • i was a smart child, and had always had a fascination with numbers and puzzles
    • the interest in riddles came from winning a contest at school. the prize was 50¢ and a book full of them
  • i frequented the public library as i got older. i liked gathering knowledge
  • i left home as soon as i graduated high school, and my grades gave me the opportunity to intern at wayne tech
    • i don't remember attending college
  • i changed my name shortly after i left, as well. i didn't want the tie to my father and i liked the pun
  • my crime spree started as mild kleptomania around the office, before turning into an aspect of my compulsions
  • i believe i managed to steal a large sum of money directly from the wayne company. this prompted the penguin to track me down and reach out to me
  • he arranged for me to meet a few other rogues at the iceberg lounge after hours to help with a heist. they were very skeptical at first
    • i was very nervous and jumpy around them, some took advantage of it, and some gave me advice
    • it went away once i established my footing
  • i met two-face around this time. he seemed to take an interest in me
    • we ended up in a relationship. i wouldn't call it romantic
  • i started building a reputation, and earned the riddler title from the news. my place in the rogue community grew from there
  • at some point during my career, i got shot in the calf. it left me with a mild but lasting injury
    • i overworked myself and hid it at meetings, but you could tell i had a slight limp and was relying on my cane to walk
  • i believe i was born in the 50s, and died sometime in the 90s. i don't remember exact specifics, at the moment

looking for: the other rogues, anyone who remembers me

found: two-face

additional notes:

  • none of the rogues really "got along." we worked together when necessary, but that was about it
  • harley was dating poison ivy, but i believe she was in a previous relationship with the joker. from what i hear, it didn't go well
  • i had ocd from a very young age, but only got diagnosed with it after my first few trips to arkham
  • i had several compulsions, including
    • the riddles, of course. occasionally it got bad to the point where i could only speak in them. they were also used to self soothe
    • things had to be done in prime numbers. three was common
    • lock checking. usually in threes
    • doorknob turning. both ways, also usually in threes
    • things generally had to be even. if i did something with one hand, i had to do it with the other, and so on
    • and more less notable
  • i believe i was also diagnosed with aspd, and possibly npd
  • two-face had osdd-1a, i believe. harv and harvey were different parts.
    • i only had a relationship with harv, and only met harvey a few times. he wasn't around much, and, frankly, was very uncomfortable with me
  • i was around average height, i believe 5'10, but i often wore heightened shoes and stood straighter when in public. i claimed to be 6'1 if you asked
    • this made me commonly taller than harv. he hated it, ha
  • i always had a pocket knife, a lockpick, and usually a loaded pistol on my person. i also always kept bobby pins slipped onto my sleeves
  • i had a very unhealthy sleep schedule, and often didn't sleep at all. this was paired with a mild caffeine addiction
  • i had a few different hideouts, but i remember one i shared with harv the best.
    • it was a sketchy old apartment, with a rusty metal staircase and bullet holes in the walls
  • harv and i did drugs, occasionally. they didn't affect me well, so it was rare
    • weed was the most common, but i recall trying acid once. it didn't go well
  • being from the south, i naturally had a bit of an accent. when i moved, i claimed to be from gotham, and changed my accent to sound more proper
    • my natural voice could slip through occasionally, but it went away after a couple of years
  • the rogues had... "fans," similar to the true crime community. i recall getting stopped late at night and asked for an autograph by a very enthusiastic young adult
  • i once heard the commotion of someone getting mugged as i passed an alley and did absolutely nothing about it
  • harv could kill me and i'd thank him
