- "iggie's house" by judy bloom (all about the worst feeling in the world: missing your bff.)
- "little women" by louisa may alcott (if you can get through it; it's pretty boring.)
- "the wonderful wizard of oz" by frank l. baum (you will learn so much about the gold standard if you read this as an adult!)
- "misty of chincoteague" by marguerite henry (horses.)
