- when she was little, her dad made her a tape to fall asleep to. it was "trois gymnopedies" by eric satie looped over and over. when he was making the recording, he got distracted and let the song change, so there were a few seconds of really loud rock 'n roll after one of the repeats. then it went back to "trois gymnopedies."
- she was born in august.
- i have a picture of her mother, very pregnant with her, attending my first birthday party.
- she went to nyu for one semester and lived in a dorm with grid windows.
- she loves to write.
- she has been to paris.
- she was a substitute teacher for awhile. although i never attended any of her classes, i'm pretty sure she would have been the coolest substitute teacher ever.
- she is an amazing boggle player and scrabble champ.
- we once teamed up against our very literate mothers for a game of scrabble and beat them with a 7-letter word.
- even when we lived in different states and didn't talk or see each other much, she called me every single year on my birthday.
- twice, she drove for hours to surprise me with a visit in the hospital.
- she likes sad songs.
- we used to swim in her grandparents' pool and make up stories about a ghost that lived in their house.
- as a teenager, she smoked a couple of cigarettes as a fuck you to her dad.
- for one year, she went to an all-girls catholic high school.
- once when we were in middle school or maybe high school, she said told me that she had just watched the movie "thelma and louise." she said, "even though the main story is them running from the law, i think it was really about friendship. and that if you have a small car, it's way easier to drive under things during a getaway."
- i would only run from the law with her.
