- corn pudding (i found a recipe on the food network website that was originally aired on emeril's show. i'm usually not a big fan of emeril, but i adapted the recipe a bit because i'm a vegetarian and it called for bacon, and now i make it every thanksgiving. it takes a long time, but it's super-delicious.)
- gumbo (another recipe that takes all day. i kind of like that...it's better than sitting on my ass for three hours watching horror movies that aren't scary.)
- birthday cakes of every variety (i like celebrations.)
- quiche (pretty much the easiest thing ever, and you can invent new combinations of ingredients and feel like an inventor.)
- pork chops (i don't eat pork, but for some reason i'm really good at making these.)
- sangria (not a food. but there's fruit in it!)
- grits (instant grits are way quicker and easier, but the real thing is much more delicious. i find that a lot of people, especially here up north, think they hate grits until they actually taste homemade ones.)
- gingerbread (my favorite food ever.)
- pasta salad (another recipe that you can improvise and feel great about.)
- pumpkin pie (it makes people happy.)
- fried eggs (when i was babysitting my little sister or she was home sick from school, i would always make her fried eggs for breakfast. even when i messed them up, she would say, "these are good fried eggs!")
