and then they went on to say that the pearly gates had some eloquent graffiti, like "we'll meet again", and "fuck the man", and "tell my mother not to worry"

  • there are several small ones on my left knee from falling out of/climbing the thorn tree in the circle in my neighborhoods in california, when i was 2-8. i remember both neighborhoods each had a tree in its grassy middle-of-the-cul-de-sac area, and they both had thorns. and i fell out of them, a lot. but only on my left knee, i guess.
  • a circular one on top of my foot that i got for no good reason, like tripping on a concrete step.
  • a few weird ones from blisters, mostly from refusing to not wear my favorite converse to band camp in sophomore year.
  • two pieces of pencil graphite are stuck right under my skin, healed inside. one in the palm of my right hand, one on the side of my right thigh. i am accident prone when it comes to pencils, apparently.
  • a small scar over my right eyebrow, from hitting myself in the head with the car door. i was racing my sister inside, because i really had to pee, and i didn't notice there was blood all over my face for a weirdly long time.
  • the biggest one on the left side of my jawline is from the surgery i had to remove a benign tumor, apparently resulting from a sister bacteria to tuberculosis. i was 10, i think.
  • two holes, one it each ear, slightly off from my current piercings, where i first had it done and they healed over.
  • a red dot in the white of my right eye from when my sister poked me in the eye and popped a blood vessel there.
  • scars from particularly bad patches of eczema on my hands.
  • these probably don't count, but my right middle finger is larger than my other fingers from being broken. i was playing tag. and my left ankle is a little misshapen from being shredded in a rugby game a few months ago.
