[for the first time in history wrapped needed more than 1 post] > WRAPPED GAMBLING v1.0 since the inception i've included my top 5, and bottom 5, of my spotify wrapped — partly because it's always launched before I ever finished writing listowrapped, mostly because I thought spotify wrapped was novel enough. but i am no longer dazzled by own statistics because i live in the present! so let's do some trend analysis. and some gambling which is better received as prediction. i'm trying to clear the house over here.
Almost forgot about the psychosis that was listening to ETA - NewJeans for 2 months straight walking around ADMU campus and having to WRITE in my JOURNAL about it. aside from that it's a genuine toss up b/w thundercat and prince for no. 1, technically because purple rain (live) in EIGHTEEN minutes long i bet it's going to be oh sheit it's x. but this was a very purple rain year and deserves to be commemorated as no. 1. in my heart. and on listography. i can't stress enough how much I've been listening to purple rain. it's kind of insane. there's a part in the live version where it sounds like prince just fell of the stage. and i have to listen to it every time.
last year i wrote about how i fell out of kpop and important nuance of that, which is echoed earlier, is that i fell out of kpop fandom. but newjeans, katseye, sumin (who's technically kRNB but whatever) as well as a handful of singles that make it out of kpop fandom and into whatever space of twitter i occupy right now, are still so good. someone needs to add this to the list of things that are eternal: death, taxes, and listening to korean music.
i feel deeply influenced by lucy, quinn and xan's music taste this year which is probably a direct result of spending hours in their car. thank you quinn for introducing jeff buckley to me. and changing my life by ruining it. because there isn't a single thing jeff buckley's made that hasn't made me want to curl up into a ball. xan took me to see ORLA GARTLAND and i discovered the divine chord by the avalanches which is a very May song. it sounds exactly like saying goodbye after one of the best years of your life. lucy showed me blues brothers and i was never the same way. i got way more into rock, folk, and blues this year and it shows!
what was the actual top/bottom 5?
