The main characteristics that make a suit Formal rather than Casual are more structured tailoring, sleek detailing, and more polished fabrics. Masculine formal suits are typically fine woven wool or wool blend, with satin lapels on tuxedo jackets. The jacket and the pants should match with very few exceptions (ie, the navy blazer and khaki pants combo is too informal). A tie is mandatory, but being wonderfully gender wiggly as we are we can subvert this in a variety of ways. Knits, patch pockets, tweed, seersucker, most shades of brown (depending on the fabric), and anything rustic is not going to be elevated enough. Rule of thumb is if you can wash it at home, it's probably not fancy enough. Generally, the later in the day the event is held, the darker and more fancy the clothing.
- Wildfang is an awesome place to start, and we know you like that green floral jacket from there. The problem is mostly that their jackets are very unstructured. Formal is not a vibe where you push the sleeves of your jacket up to your elbows, so if a jacket looks like you can do that comfortably it's too casual. However, I will admit that I formed that opinion while looking at their black tux jacket, and you're never wearing a black suit, are you, so that was pretty dumb of me. Also I'm a sucker for their waistcoats. I think with the right shirt and shoes you could do something like these:
//
- Torrid. I always like their goth designs but they do good suiting too. I'm not sure if there's a thing you don't like about them for reasons... I'm sorry I don't remember. They have cotton underwear you might like too, did you know. Don't go with any of their ponte or relaxed cut jackets, they're too casual.
//
- Ashley Stewart. Okay, this is the one time I'd say mismatch the jacket and pants:
//
SHIRTS. Long sleeve. No pocket. Solid colour. High neck. Fight me.
- Ashley Stewart basic white buttondown. It's a shirt. do the buttons up. wear it with a tie.
- less curvy basic button-down from wildfang
- Be a frilly little guy and wear a cunty little bow-neck shirt. extra points for tying it off to the side.
- leotard style basic buttondown. So this might drive you nuts BUT- you don't have to wear separate underwear if you really don't want- and also IT WON'T COME UNTUCKED. which always drives me more nuts. idk, you do you.
- fancypants scalloped edge shirt. wear the buttons done up and a fancy jeweled brooch or a bolo tie instead of a regular tie. or a bowtie, i guess, but it'll be very 70s.

Honourable Mentions:
- City Chic - i like these dark emerald green pants, but there's a vest but no jacket.
- Ulla Popken. Danish designer. I love both of these and wanted you to see them but there's no coordinating pants, idk. rip.
- textured blazer- the fabric of this is great. The shine and little bit of texture really elevate it from a regular solid colour. A full suit of this would be chef's kiss for formal wear.
- toile blazer - this one's my favourite from her, of course it's black.
