Steampunk aesthetic tends mostly to the sepia, brown, ivory, army green, orange, black, and burgundy. It's a very "fall" palette. In terms of style there's lots of layering, stripes, lace, structured garments and, unfortunately, corsets. Take something you think of as classic Lolita or Victorian Goth and dye it brown and you probably have some pretty good steampunk stuff.
