Hello, Listography! I'm starting my first campaign today (well, only session zero today, but starting a campaign nonetheless)! In light of this, I figured I may as well catch you up on what I've been up to. I probably should've done this as soon as I could, but I forgor...
2024/05/05 - ran a oneshot, because I was upset that I hadn't played D&D for the past three weeks. We had some struggles regarding attendance (one quit without a word, one realised they had exams, one overslept), leaving the party with.. 2 druids. And, to be fair, they were amazing! I loved the bears and the jokes made, but I severely underestimated how much content I had prepared. The players complained about the lack of roleplay.
2024/05/23 - another oneshot, because I felt like running one. ALL members participated and were absolutely lovely. By the end, they complained about the lack of combat (I was upset with how linear it was, a problem I set out to fix next time)
2024/06/07 - last oneshot as of now. Unlike with the last two (first was irl, others through Discord) this one was run TotM style. This also was the most fun out of all - we had a whole sequence where the entire party hosted an impromptu.. party in an inn. Lovely folk, though there was a bad egg.
All in all: I'm glad I ran those games! I don't feel fully ready for the next chapter, but I've done a fair bit of preparation and decided to make my life easier. (Oneshots are, in my opinion, great for learning because there are very few stakes, but you need to sort through applications & review characters each time you want to host one. With a permanent party, do this once and you're good for at least a few weeks)
