it went as well as you might imagine. had trouble getting the party to do what i intended for them to do. the fact that i had told them beforehand they might die didn't help the situation much. the party didn't learn the story of Osiris nor interacted as much with the cult of Myrkul as i had hoped, but they did manage to coerce the sheriff of a large town to give them a recommendation letter in advance. overall, i have much to learn.

i am a headless chicken thrown into something new and frankly, quite exciting. outlining the basic premise and looking up a few stat blocks a few minutes before the session is NOT enough of preparation. having a set plan of action makes me seem like an author not willing to budge and change the plot.

i really do believe it was a fool’s errand to even consider updating my listography after every single game! so, instead, i’m committing to updating listography once my current campaign is over. mhm.

what i’ve been up to:

  • running a grand total of zero oneshots. i was planning to run one in June in preparation for the One Page Dungeon contest, but a lot of things misaligned and i ended up canceling everything. can't say i'm too upset.
  • instead, i’ve been busy running a campaign i’ve lovingly named “LMOP turned homebrew” (started as LMOP, didn’t vibe with it, Essen killed Gundren, they’re in Neverwinter now) in my.... internal documents. i wish i could say it’s smooth sailing, but no! did i bit off more than i can chew? absolutely. i’m really happy i told both myself and others that it’s gonna be over after the aberration...

still dealing with "am i comperent enough to do this?" question, but name a person who doesn't! i did, however, switch gears from my initial idea and am currently entertaining another, which i am much more competent with. it's a topic i know so much more about and it doesn't depend on my (poor) ability to make approachable characters as much. which i'm very glad about. my earlier October/November deadline ended up, well.. unfulfilled, but i'm hoping to have something done by February. at least now i have the beginnings of a group!

that's right! i finally found time to run a oneshot! ran a heavily modified (as in, 2/3 of the adventure scrapped and the remainder almost entirely rewritten) adventure featuring a stolen door, which was actually the gateway to an extradimensional space. i really liked it! and ended up writing down a bunch of quotes, most of w...

Hello, Listography! I'm starting my first campaign today (well, only session zero today, but starting a campaign nonetheless)! In light of this, I figured I may as well catch you up on what I've been up to. I probably should've done this as soon as I could, but I forgor...

2024/05/05 - ran a oneshot, because I was upset that I hadn't played D&D for the past three weeks. We had some struggles regarding attendance (one quit without a word, one realised they had exams, one overslept), leaving the party with.. 2 druids. And, to be fair, they were amazing! I loved the bears and the jokes made, but I severely underestimated how much content I had prepared. The players complained about the lack of roleplay.

2024/05/23 - another oneshot, because I felt like running one. ALL members participated and were absolutely lovely. By the end, they complained about the lack of co...

it's already been.. close to a month since we all rode off into the distance. the "LMOP-turned-homebrew" campaign ended on 29th of March (2025-03-29), and the server was shut down on the 4th of April (2025-04-04).

i don't think i can describe myself as having taken some time to think about the experience. i'm definitely happy it's finally over and i'm.... happy to be able to delve into a campaign as a player, but there's a non-insignificant part of me that wishes i'd currently be preparing for a campaign i'd begin running soon with a lot of those same folks. a lot. not all. on the bright side, i am currently working on a oneshot i'll be running next month! so that's exciting. i don't have many details yet other than the fact the gang will be a bunch of bears going on a Honey Heist (using the wonderful system developed by Grant Howitt).

happy anniversary! while i did make a reminder to actually.. celebrate a year since the first time i've DM'ed, that's about all the planning i did.. so here's my very impromptu plan for today:

  • i'm eating my apples and watching a Matthew Colville video at the moment.
  • gonna go out for a walk after i finish my apples and wash the cutting board
  • may do some prep afterwards? play a game?
  • more walking
  • maybe watch a movie? MAYBE PREPARE FOR AN EXAM????????

hi, listography! "i'll probably update listography sometime after my Honey Heist oneshot happens". yeah, right.

first order of business: Honey Heist ended up not happening because everyone were busy and we were on a schedule. truthfully, i am somewhat glad it ended so, because... i don't think i had a playable adventure ready. however , i did have a chance to run a oneshot on the 13th of September, in the world of Eberron! looking back there's so many things i wish i had done differently (as with all of my previous oneshots, so nothing new there). but, i'm really happy i finally got to run Eberron. likely, for the first AND last time for this group.

uhh.. the Crooked Moon campaign is fine, i guess. enjoying being a troublemaker, but it is very apparent we have little free will. it's a module, after all..

i'm still hoping i'll be able to start my own campaign shortly. but there's so muc...
