Of the past week:
- Tiring and frustrating weekend spent trying to write "We Need to Talk About the Women's World Cup"
- 4-day work week
- Worked out 3 of those 4 days
- Boxing
- Best run in a long time
- Touch rugby and dove for the scoreline and made an assist in a separate play
- S's last day at work
- New dawn, new day, new desk
- Got more beans
- I can't drink all this coffee
- Twitter debate on Caitlyn Jenner receiving the ESPY's Arthur Ashe Award
- Regretting taking the time to engage with someone over a contentious matter
- But then getting a message saying that that person was wrong to say her previous statements and that Caitlyn Jenner was, indeed, courageous
- Respect and maybe sometimes it is worth it to engage
- Short meeting, long lunch
- This project is still bullshit but we will push through
- M acts/thinks a lot faster than I ever will but I much appreciate the support of ideas
- Good talk between two people in very different stages in their lives but with remarkably similar interests
- "We Need to Talk About the Women's World Cup" finally got published
- At the start of it, I didn't feel strongly about the piece (e.g. it's not good enough, it should be better etc.)
- But someone said, "So what? It's still your work and you should share it."
- Sheepishly plugged to old teammates because the message was too important
- I'm not going to feel strongly about certain pieces I'm going to write in the future but I feel very strongly about women's sports
- It is quite simply my advocacy
- But I'm glad to also say that I can read the WWC piece without squirming in my seat
- Remembering All the Lovers still makes me smile
