Subway:

• the girls who wanted to talk to me about god
• old black guy who smiled at me. i noticed the scars on his wrists while holding on to the polls for support.
• the huge muscle dude working out in the subway station with tension bands
• the business dude asking the girl who was filing her nails on the train out. she said no. he persisted. it was slightly awkward for me sitting in between them.
• completely wasted or drugged girl who kept falling and i had to find her help
• when the train doors opened, there's a homeless dude in one corner smoking a cigarette. it felt like we were walking into a dingy bar. we laughed and went to the next train car at the next available stop.
• man who had a seizure at the G train station holding his metro card. he couldn't hear my voice.
• astral projections man: a black male with a straw in his nose describing a secret society in harlem that trains kids to "astral project" aka link into your mind or anyone's
• the two heavy lesbian women who lean on each other with faces transfixed as though on heroine.
• antenna man: the alien saxophonist seeking new dimensions after his space ship crashed. he'll play the sour notes until you give him money.
• half dominican/ half puerto rican man who just came from an audition to be an "extra" -trying to start his life over
• ming who creates portrait origami on the train platforms
• pete who burns dvds of political films/documentaries and gives them out for free to people
• the cute guy with a surf board that had a naked woman's body on it
• the christian group of dudes spreading the word of jesus
• the acrobats who do performances on the trains
• the many mariachi bands that pop in

Other:

• young gansta lookin style girl asks me to help her with picking out panty hose for her graduation dress. control top? color? size? it was one of the sweetest moments in my life

Things I imagine on the Subway:

• we're on a jacob's ladder train heading to a dark place
• that i'll look out the window and see the "travel back in time" dioramas like they had at disneyland on the people mover ride
• we're all on a train to heaven
• i am living in a dream and everyone is being created by me
• that this is my last time on earth in the reincarnation process, so soak it up
• pairing up couples from the selection of people on the train
• guessing what people's professions are
• if i had to spend the rest of my life with one person on the train, which one would it be (courtesy of sumei)
