- We get nasty instead of daring to ask to be loved.
- We chop each other into pieces and use those pieces for our own other purposes.
- Anyone we love will be a mixture of good and bad.
- Growing up is not dividing people into “I hate them” and “I absolutely love them” ––but seeing how people embody both.
- Everyone we love will disappoint us.
- We start off with idealization and end up with denigration.
- There are not heroes or sinners among human beings, all of us are a perplexing mixture of both.
- Love is not just admiration but tolerance.
- We tend to believe that others correcting us is not a role of love, but it is. It is saying, I love you and want you to move toward being a better version of yourself.
- It is the work of love to graciously accommodate each other’s incompatibilities.
