A Week in 2008:

• hung out with Ming in the subway station. he does origami cut outs of people's faces. really sweet guy with a good soul.
• met a guy on the L train who gives away free dvds of political documentaries. nice guy. works hard.
• discovered brooklyn heights and the promenade by bike
• incredible east coast warm lightening and thunder storm. adam comes home wet but happy.
• adam and i placed a wager on whether or not there are multi-universes. now to figure it out?
• road with ira glass on the subway. delightful.
• am i the only one who likes scarlett johansson's new album
• jesus lovers on the train trying to convert the sad
• on the subway: acrobats and then a man proposes to a woman
• adam knocks on bathroom door and hides. i think i'm going crazy. he knocks again and hides. i see him. we laugh.
• road with jemaine on the subway from flight of the conchords
• trying to catch the bus parked below, i fell down the subway stairs and right into a puerto rican man's butt (my right hand grabbing his pocket while my face pressed into his left butt cheek). he broke my fall basically. i laughed really hard and he smiled and asked me if i was okay.
• it's magical that the trees know when it's spring and when to come out of hibernation!
• jogged through williamsburg with biko's poop sample in my pocket for the vet. so many cute restaurants and bars to visit. i love mccarren park!
• stood near two gunshots. kids and gangs. and they want to cut afterschool programs.
• helped a woman on the street who had fallen and looked to be in a state of shock near houston
• ate (by accident) the spiciest thing i have ever eaten: a jalapeno in a subway sandwich...some crazy renegade jalapeno that was ridiculously hot
• watched adam step in a cat poo that biko had left in the livingroom
• adam saved a little bird drenched from the rain back in july. he kept it warm in a shoe box and it flew home later.

Another Week in 2008:

• there are some days in new york that make it worth every second of winter. days when you can roam the streets and zip in and out of neighborhoods on the subway on a warm day, and the whole energy of the city feels like magic. today was one of those days. thank you new york!
• woke up to liane, joe and sophie bringing over bagels and cream cheese
• with liane, joe, sophie, rob, kristen, matt, and salma, we headed across the street to mccarren park pool for the renegade crafts fair where it was hot and we ate ice cream
• went to the children's park where we huddled in our own corner like a gang and played in the kid's water park with sophie. we performed stunts and dares.
• headed on the B48 bus to the lower east side and attended a skateboarding fundraiser for my school program. the entire rooftop of a high school overlooking the city filled with ramps and skaters of every age, color, and background set against the graffitied walls. my kids were selling drinks and raffle tickets. it was great.
• then headed to lombardi's pizza in nolita for delicious pizza.
• returned home, and sat on the patio balcony and watched the most amazing lightening and thunder storm. then it poured the heaviest rain through the warm air. adam and i used this time to mop our balcony together with bare feet. it was fun. then we sat and held hands and watched the rest of the storm.
• came inside, showered and re-created the listography home page to look less businessy.
• made dinner together and watched an episode of this american life.
• went to bed. talked about and listened to music and then had sex.
• such a great day. so grateful.

• volunteered at the Bowery Mission to serve thanksgiving day dinner. sat at a table of men and spoke about odds and ends.
• went to see the Milk film in the east village
• watched pink floyd concert
• ate a whole pomegranate with adam
• cruised new york on biggest shopping day while listening to a favorite songs mix on my ipod
• listened to pink floyd's "dark side of the moon" in entirety and synced to planet earth's Pole to Pole dvd
• got veggie biscuits and gravy at enids
• went to the natural history museum to look at gems and minerals
• walked through central park at sunset
• matt and salma come to dinner and salma has a surprise!
