What a beautiful face I have found in this place that is circling all round the sun. What a beautiful dream that could flash on the screen in a blink of an eye and be gone from me. Let me hold it close and keep it here with me. And one day we will die and our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea. But for now we are young, let us lay in the sun and LIST every beautiful thing we see.

He has a lot of human qualities but he is so rude with his vinyls.

Exhibits Etc:

  • Darger Exhibit
  • Salvador Dali Museum

Bars:

  • AuX Trois Mailletz (St Germain)
  • Twenty One Sound Bar: A hip-hop bar in Paris? The novel Twenty One Sound near Bastille is a temple to American hip-hop – both East and West coasts – but also of dance hall tunes and French rap. Numerous DJs take to the decks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, mixing old school sets and brand new tracks on the powerful sound system.
  • LE FANFARON 75011: Le Fanfaron is a small rock bar a short walk from Bastille. Concert and film posters adorn the walls as the proprietor spins records on the single turntable. [Le Fanfaron, 6 rue de la Main d’Or 75011]
  • Ménilmontant Bar is one of the few places in Paris you can not only let your hair down, but catch a free gig, watch girls dance on the bar, maybe even take your clothes off. [La Féline, 6 Rue Victor Letalle 75020]
  • La Féline [6 Rue Victor Letalle 75020] If you are in the mood for a wild night, hit La Féline on the weekend. Girls dancing on the bar, DJs playing everything from the Pixies to the Stones to Nirvana to the Sonics, everyone drunk on Jameson and high on life.
  • La Mécanique Ondulatoire [8 Passage Thiéré 75011] A mecca for lovers of good music, rum and whiskey. Their selection is just as good as any respectable cocktail bar in Paris, with the added bonus of DJs, an expansive lounge, downstairs cave/club and an upstairs fumoir. Go for the monthly 60’s soul night.
  • Le Saint-Sauveur [11 Rue des Panoyaux 75020] A stones throw from La Féline, this ‘anti-fascist’ institution spills out onto the streets or congregates around the populated bar. Another bar dedicated to the art of Rum, to DJs playing actual records, to the occasional live act or exhibition, and a cast of bobos, bikers and locals.Le
  • La Miroiterie [88 Rue de Ménilmontant 75020] La Miroiterie is effectively an artists ‘squat’ enveloped in controversy. It was shut down in October 2012 after no less than 32 initiatied legal proceedings, but it seems to be back up and running with a host of bands scheduled for the coming months. Bottled beer in paper bags, general chaos. A Ménilmontant institution.
  • Houla Oups [4 Rue Basfroi 75011] This bar takes dive to a whole new level. It’s a serious local spot that the internet doesn’t seem to know a lot about, which is a good thing. Bare bones and no bullshit, punk and reggae plays to a sordid collection of seedly locals.

  • English speaking taxi order: 0141276699
  • enter the louvre through the carousel entrance (buy tix at gift shop) --weds and fri the louvre is open late and on the 1st sunday it's free.
  • both the louvre and the orsay have automated machines for ticket buying inside
  • always ask if someone speaks english in french
  • plan on a whole day at versaille
  • museums are often closed on either mon or tues so check
  • everything shuts down on sunday so prepare...buy groceries or be prepared to walk a bit for a restaurant
  • some of the metro cars you either have to push a button or turn the handle for the door to open
  • check paris holidays (some are different than ours)
  • RER requires different ticket than metro to and from the airport. they check on the train so be sure to buy it.
  • note what terminal you came in on because it's a big airport
  • airport and train ticket machines don't accept US credit cards and some don't accept cash.
  • from central paris to airport allow 1 1/2 hours
  • tap water is ok to drink
  • stop selling tickets one hour before their closing time
  • tipping not necessary, but for a ncie bonus 5% is cool.
