  • Leigh Lake hike- 1.8 miles round trip or String Lake hike 2.9 miles to Leigh Lake (string lake great for swimming/kayaking)
  • Jackson Lake (boat rentals)
• Yellowstone (grand loop is 142 miles r/t)
• West Yellowstone (stayed here - lodging - cute spot)
  • Rendezvous mountain man market (seasonal)
  • Norris Geyser Basin
  • Mammoth Hot Springs - Travertine Terraces (1.5 hr)
  • Lamar Valley (hr east - skipped because Bison were in Hayden Valley)
  • Grand Canyon of Yellowstone + Lower Falls + Artist’s Point 10AM for rainbows - amazing
  • drive Hayden Valley to spot wildlife (Bison) + Mud Volcano stop - amazing but expect traffic due to Bison
  • Storm Point Natural Trail (bison frequent here) + stop at Lake visitor center for views at the Lodge (Lake Village)
  • Grand Prismatic Spring (on way to Old Faithful) - walk boardwalk up to Midway Geyser Basin - amazing
  • Old Faithful - walk the upper geyser basin walk to Morning Glory Pool 1.5 miles
  • West Thumb Geyser Basin walk + Yellowstone Lake
  • In town (W Yellowstone): Grizzly Wolf Recovery Center
  • Firehole Springs
  • Undine Falls

Misc:

• ANIMALS SEEN: deer, bear w/ cub, moose, bison, elk
• 8,000 elevation caused sleep issues first day!!
• had the entire park to ourselves due to going when rainy (pack raincoat)
• 3 hours from West Yellowstone to Jackson Airport
• ADVICE: summer sun sets at 9pm so go into the park after 3pm for less people or esp during rainy season! Temps in 70s and hardly anyone there
• Jackson Airport 15 mins to Jackson Hole or to Grand Tetons
• expect major traffic delays Hayden Valley due to Bison!
