A few teenagers broke into the Ahavath Israel d’Chasidei Viznitz synagogue on Saturday march 20th and vandalized it. It is located in the Hassidic community in Outremont. They were said to have gotten in by the back window of the synagogue between 1:30 and 6:00 AM. Swastikas were found all over the place, including two on the bima, which is the equivalent to a catholic pulpit. Congregates who came to their usual service early in the morning noticed prayer books and prayer shawls all over the floor, scattered. A curtain around the Torah had also been removed, but the Torah was put away at the time, so it wasn’t taken.
