My rule for this survey is to go with my first instincts, no matter what. We'll see how interesting this list becomes.
- Your favorite song - Such a tough one. I'm going to have to go with "Any Day Now" by Missy Higgins, because of the history, and I could listen to it basically anytime of my life and be pleased to hear it.
- Your least favorite song - also tough. I like to give all music a chance, but I never really got into "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. I never hated it, but I didn't love listening to it ever.
- A song that makes you happy - "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus. It reminds me of Natasha and I, sometimes drunk, sometimes sober, dancing in our underwear, forgetting about boys, Conservatory, sophomore year, and anything else that might have been bothering us. I miss her a lot.
- A song that makes you sad - "The Pieces Don't Fit Anymore" by James Morrison. Such a sad breakup song, that I fear is not preventable.
- A song that reminds you of someone - My first instinct was "Party in the USA" for this one too, but since I already used it, I will go with my second thought, which was Devendra Banhart's "I Feel Just Like a Child" which reminds me of Scears Lee.
- A song that reminds of you of somewhere - "Sex on Fire" by the Kings of Leon reminds me of the London experience of Summer 2009. Best summer of my life, thus far.
- A song that reminds you of a certain event - Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" reminds me of the night in Stratford-Upon Avon's one bar with Greg, Andrew and Kyle. Drinks were included with the cover charge, but you could only get them every 30 minutes. So we stayed for 4 hours, and got so wasted, and danced to "Poker Face" at least 6 times.
- A song that you know all the words to - How embarrassing that the first song that came to my mind was "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix A Lot. I think it explains a lot about me though. I know a lot of songs by heart though.
- A song that you can dance to - There are so many! Currently I am choreographing Charlotte Martin's "Everytime it Rains." It is a wonderful song that I am dancing to, so there you go.
- A song that makes you fall asleep - Pat Metheny's "One Quiet Night." It's the most beautiful acoustic guitar ever. I fall asleep to his CD all the time.
- A song from your favorite band - "Nightminds" by Missy Higgins.
- A song from a band you hate - I don't memorize or know a ton about the bands I hate. So, I'm going to skitter around this question.
- A song that is a guilty pleasure - "Bulletproof" by La Roux. Terrible song, but I am so obsessed it's not even funny.
- A song that no one would expect you to love - Depends on the person. There were some who were surprised I have the entire album "The Hazards of Love" by the Decemberists memorized, but some also think it's crazy that I know Taylor Swift. Take yo pick.
- A song that describes you - "Vienna" by Billy Joel. Done.
- A song that you used to love but now hate - Don't hate, but skip everytime because I've grown tired of it: "Fireflies" by Owl City. Yep, I'm that girl.
- A song that you hear often on the radio - Right at this second? "OMG" by Usher. Nasty. I dislike.
- A song that you wish you heard on the radio - Um hello, any of my music. Gimme some Missy Higgins (old school, please), Brandi Carlile, the Weepies, Rufus Wainwright? Anything they do. A song? How about "Take it from Me" by the Weepies. Maybe they did play it once, but I doubt it.
- A song from your favorite album - "The Sound of White" by Missy Higgins. We did a piece to it for Allie's mom, and my life will never be the same.
- A song that you listen to when you’re angry - "Gives You Hell" by the All American Rejects. I have thrown books at walls listening to this song. I can't get enough of it. But I don't have to be angry to enjoy it!
- A song that you listen to when you’re happy - "Affirmation" by Savage Garden. First re-discovered with Becca, Sarah and Cassie their junior year, my sophomore year, but it's just such a great song that I love so much. And, a great message. Wooo 90's!
- A song that you listen to when you’re sad - "Swans" by Uncle Bob. Oh my gosh, makes me want to tear up right now.
- A song that you want to play at your wedding - "Call Me Irresponsible" Frank Sinatra. Sue me.
- A song that you want to play at your funeral - "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan. JUST KIDDING THAT WOULD BE A LITTLE ABSURD. I have not thought about it and would not like to.
- A song that makes you laugh -"Music Box" by Regina Spektor. It makes me think of my little Lexie doodle.
- A song that you can play on an instrument - "If There Was No You" by Brandi Carlile. It's not perfected yet, but it's getting there!
- A song that you wish you could play - Missy Higgins music, especially "Warm Whispers." I'm working on her stuff, but her chords are tough.
- A song that makes you feel guilty - "Secret" by Missy Higgins. Wow.
- A song from your childhood - "A Deeper Love" by Aretha Franklin. My induction into senior company dance, and it stuck with me. I love it.
