P.s this is why Jade wasn't happy in the set before this
"I don't know if I can do this" filled the deafening room. "Do what? " Jade asked Smith's shadow. It was dark in the Eagle Travern that night. More so than usual. "Us" I heard him say into the still darkness. "Ever since you've been back here, in my life, you've been hot or cold about our relationship. You don't want to tell your parents or that god damn brother of yours about us. I haven't even met any of your friends." His voice gaining volume. A man across the bar was looking at them now. "Great" Jade thought to herself.
"You know it's not easy with my parents. Especially now that daddy dearest is leaving her" Jade's tone was filled with sarcasm, the truth and a bottle or two of Jack. Possibly more. "You can meet my friends if you want" she added a bit more lightly.
"You just don't get it" Smith told her.
"Tell me what I don't get or understand then" she pestered on. Another drink was ordered for the both of them.
"It should be easy" Smith's hands gestured around the room.
Jade knew that it should be easy. Knew that you should fight for the one you love. But right now? She wasn't fighting. She was nursing that bottle like it was a life saver and she was on a raft. Life or death. It didn't hurt that Jade thought these kinds of talks should be done alone, not at a shady bar, not when the couple wasn't sober. Not right now. Not ever. Jade has always been a lover, never wanting to fight. Why couldn't Smith get this?
"Are you breaking up with me right now? In a fucking bar?" Hissed, Jade. Wanting to get to the point in question.
He just stared at her. "I'm not sure." His voice uttered. It seemed small, different. "Ask me in the morning" Smith casually added like it wasn't a big deal. A grin on his face. His eyes all glossy and bloodshot from the alcohol. Jade also suspected another substance.
They left together.
