the first hurdle is always the hardest, especially when you have anxiety, so remember these methods on how to get through facing things that you're scared of or anxious about
- exposure therapy - this always works, you just need to remember to ease yourself into things gradually and slowly and as you do it more and more you'll feel more relaxed naturally and build up resilience to it and confidence ♥
- motivation - "you can do anything with the proper motivation" - always true! give yourself something to work toward, a reward afterwards to look forward to or give yourself any kind of motivation even if it's something silly or imaginary or isn't certain to happen later, e.g. say to yourself if you do xyz you'll get something you want later or a lot of money or something you've been wishing for for ages or you'll see a fireball or you'll get noticed by someone famous, or anything! the more personal and meaningful it is to you the more motivation and stamina you'll get
- f/o's - talk to your f/o about how you feel, even pretend they're with you during whatever it is you're doing
- imaginary shields - the mind is a powerful thing, you have great imagination, use it! visualize a bubble around you that's a protective shield that can't let anything bad happen and that will keep you calm and focused and do things easily and successfully. Describe the shield in detail to distract your mind from anxiety, describe its colour, its size, its smell, etc.
- play pokemon on your phone, or anything - providing the anxiety isn't about your phone itself use it as a distraction
- sense observation - stay grounded, name 3 things you can feel, see, hear, smell, etc.
- try to do it asap - it's easy to want to hide from things but it doesn't help in the long run, it just builds more anxiety, it's better to get it over and done with so you can relax sooner!
- remember time is temporary - regardless of how things go it doesn't matter ultimately, time will keep moving, you'll forget about it, you'll cheer up, better things will happen, time will fly by and it'll soon be an irrelevant distant memory with no power over you
