- house phones had an aerial you had to pull out the top of the phone every time you used it otherwise the signal was muffled

- there were more public telephones around
- bus tickets only cost about 30p
- nobody recycled
- you used to see the milk man drive past
- we recorded songs from the radio on blank cassette tapes
- nobody had a mobile phone
- big bulky camcorders
- people used paper maps in the car
- everyone used film cameras
- no internet or computers at home
- no public wi-fi
- health & safety wasn't as strict as today
- people were allowed to smoke in public places indoors
- the newspaper was delivered by a paper boy/man
- the tvs were big bulky things
- lots of dance/clubs songs played on the radio
- I swear I remember it being legal for adult passengers to not wear seatbelts in the car?!
- I remember at the end of the 90s there being a lot of talk and concern about electronics failing to work once it was the year 2000, something about things would reset to zero or it would mess up all the data and numbers in systems aka "the millennium bug"
