• local pool. i was probably 7/8 years old and i was in the heated pool area and was running towards the diving blocks and my last step before i jumped over the blocks into the pool was too close to the block and my toes hit the side of it and i twisted and scraped all down my back and i fainted. i woke up pretty fast apparently but managed to embarrass myself in front of one of my teachers. i was pretty bruised up for a week or so. something very strange, i remember while i was out cold, i had a little dream of the train the goes up the hill and says 'i think i can, i think i can', but i never remember actually reading that story as a child....
  • on holidays. i was 9 and at a park looking after some of my parent's friend's children by myself. they were running around like crazy and i saw one of the them up the top doing something dangerous (i can't remember exactly what he was doing now..) so i started climbing the play set as fast as possible to make sure he didn't hurt himself. i got to the top only to realise he was ok, but i wanted to get down to him to make sure he was more careful next time. but so many kids were lined up for the slide to go down, i decided to go down the fireman's pole, so i wrapped my hands around it and went to swing down, but smashed my knee right into it. i made it down in one piece, checked on the boy, stumbled over to a chair thing and curled up in a ball. and very soon after, woke up lying on the ground with people looking in my direction with very worried expressions. i was a shy kid so i didn't want to say anything... so i just stood up, got the children i was looking after and limped back to our room.
  • at the dentists'. i had just had four teeth pulled (to get braces) and the dentist had just put the gauze in my mouth and told me to clamp my mouth shut on them. i did, but was gradually blacking out. my mum, who was sitting next to me, says i fell forward and stopped breathing. the dentist had already left the room and the assistant was the only other person there and had started freaking out. my mum called the dentist who simply walked back in, placed his fingers under my jaw and tilted me back into my seat. i woke up, probably, 30 seconds after i blacked out with an oxygen mask on my face and three people looking over me like in the movies, with their faces poking over me.... but i remember having what seemed like a very long dream in that short amount of time. what freaks me out, and still remember now, is that blacking out was so gradual... but there was no point at which i could say 'help! i'm about to faint!'. it just happened and i couldn't stop myself.
