• a philosophy lecturer at my university, who used to be a Buddhist layperson in temples; he has the most interesting life story and personality I've ever known someone who is 'older' than me to have, and my opinion of him will probably - and hopefully - always remain high.
  • books, hugely, because without characters I would never have realised the type of personality I like in men, and the type of personality I wanted myself to develop as I matured.
  • celebrities which I spent many years fawning over - from Kurt Cobain to David Tennant - because each have life stories that intrigued me, and helped me realise goals weren't impossible if one has absolute persistence and drive.
  • music, which has altered my opinion on many different things over the years.
  • my absolute best friend, elliot, because he has shaped me in a way I didn't think imaginable and has completely transformed my life.
  • my friends in secondary school, because they taught me to look the other way as much as possible when people say things about me that aren't true.
  • my grandparents: my mother's mother, who showed me attachment to silly objects, even at an old age, can make your life bearable after suffering many losses; and my father's mother, who has a sheer determination to get her art moving and selling, despite having been creating for years.
  • my parents, without whom I both wouldn't be here and wouldn't know that it is possible to live without plenty of money, and the necessity of having love within a family.
  • where I lived as a child, in a sleepy seaside town, because that has obviously affected my personality - how I like being indoors 80% of the time.
