• List distractions and set aside.
  • What do you already know; who, what, where, why, when, how.
  • Choose one idea and write out all of your associations.
  • Take a fresh look at the idea. What is the heart of the matter? Try to grasp the whole picture, not just the bits and pieces.
  • Am I getting closer?
  • Choose a thought from class that relates and describe what you know about it and how you think it connects to what you have already written.
  • Read over what you have written.
  • What was the progression of my thoughts?
