when mumbo gets a blank notification on his phone, reading “Hello? Did this send? Do you copy?” he’s worried that he’s either somehow gotten a virus, or angered a ghost — but, thankfully, it simply turns out that someone (an alive someone) is trying to communicate with him.

introducing himself as npc, the stranger claims to be a cybernetically enhanced clone created by grian, intended to be an assistant to help the architect out of his creative rut, but who was discarded after a certain... “incident” that he refuses to elaborate on.

against his self-preservation instincts, mumbo meets up with this “npc”, only to discover that he was telling the truth. he’s a spitting image of grian, with only two noticeable differences — his eyes are a piercing blue, instead of a warm brown, and he has “NPC” tattooed on the inside of his left wrist.

not knowing what else to do, mumbo lets the clone stay with him behind grian’s back, and slowly begins to piece together the real story.
