• Pride and Prejudice (2005)--totally butchered the story and so many historic faux pas!
• The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
• Girl with the Pearl Earring
• Like Water for Chocolate
• Pretty much any Stephen King novel adaptation
• The Queen of the Damned
• Valmont (very lame compared to Dangerous Liaisons)
• The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
• The English Patient (for some reason this film always makes me cringe)
• Great Expectations (1998)--had nothing of the beauty of Dickens' work in it!

Honorable Mentions:

• The Harry Potter Series (although I don't mind them, Ididn't like the films much, which put me off until I read the books. I understand the stories better now and actually like them)
• Pretty much any Disney film (they're great when you're kids but when you appreciate the literary versions they're not so good)
• The Wizard of Oz (a cult classic and I really do love it but in terms of being a good adaptation it kind of missed the mark)
