So. Before I got this Acer, I had a Toshiba. I used that Toshiba nearly every day for two years, so I guess it's understandable that it might have started to break down, but... I decided to make a list of all the issues that Toshiba has. I obviously don't use it anymore.

  • Sometimes it'll freeze. No warning. I have to hold the power button down to restart it, otherwise it'll stay frozen for exactly five minutes before restarting itself. Regardless of how I restart it, even if it wasn't frozen, it takes ten minutes or more to restart. There's no visible pattern, either; usually it's once every two days, but it happened twice in the same day recently, and it also went eight days without freezing sometime in June.
  • The FN (function) key is missing. That's no fault of my laptop though. One of my cats leapt across the keyboard, and although I was able to find the key she ripped off, I couldn't get it back on.
  • It overheats like crazy. It doesn't ventilate properly, so I've been told. It's not supposed to go above 70 Celsius, but I've seen it go up to 90 or 95 when I was playing Hollow Knight. Since then my brother-in-law has lent me a small fan that I can place right below the vent, but it's quite awkward because I then have to use a book or something to prop up the other side, and it's like having a small, unstable table on my lap.
  • There's a really bad crack on the right side, directly above the vent. It's been fixed, mostly, but the fix caused another crack on the 'screen' half of the PC, on the outer casing. I have to press down on it with my thumb whenever I shut my laptop, otherwise I'm worried it might break. As of late September, coincidentally just a few days before I got this Acer: When I tried to open it...well...this happened. I didn't think I could open it, had to go to my brother-in-law for help. He managed to get it open, but I couldn't shut it afterwards, and it was literally held together by nothing but black tape.
  • To add to that, when I close my laptop, the left side seems to become slightly detached. That probably sounds worse than it is. I don't think it causes damage but it is worrying. This in particular has gotten much worse, to the point where it'll freak out if I move it AT ALL, even when my laptop is open. It worries me so much that when I have to shut my laptop, I press down on the left corner with my left hand, press the right corner with my right hand, and shut the thing with my chin like some sort of bizarre locking mechanism.
  • It dies. So fast. This is partially because I had to use a half-broken charger for a week (until I was able to get a new one) but it's annoying nonetheless. If I'm playing Hollow Knight, Steam will tell me I have nine minutes of battery power left when my laptop is at 90%. Even if I'm not playing HK it's still pathetic. Currently, it will die in less than twenty minutes even if I have nothing open.
  • The arrow keys really don't like to work. It started with the left one, which got so bad that I needed to download a key mapper to change the layout, but later on I realized that the right one was acting a little weird too. Thankfully this doesn't affect me as much as it used to because, as I said, I downloaded SharpKeys to change the mapping. Now I use 1235 on the number pad in place of left, down, right, and up respectively. I honestly like it more; the keys are bigger. I never use the number pad anyway.
  • Z, 1, 2, 3, 4, and the spacebar; these six keys will stop working sometimes. I have no idea why. They first stopped working on September second of this year. They're working now, of course, but they seem to go on and off. I've tried cleaning under the keys as best as I can (without having compressed air or being able to safely take the keys off) but they just don't want to work sometimes. One odd thing is that when these keys don't work, the function keys act weird too. They'll only do their labeled function; for instance, F5 will only toggle my mousepad, regardless of whether or not I'm holding the FN key. It won't refresh a page. But that's only when the six aforementioned keys aren't working. Of course, this makes my arrow key substitution (the number pad) a little inconvenient, because I have to copy and paste the numbers or symbols whenever I want them.
  • To add to the previous issue: Now the shift and escape keys have stopped working, too. Other keys like A, enter, and backspace only work half of the time, and the number pad has stopped working entirely, except for the enter key on it. At this point I've plugged an external keyboard into my laptop, so I can actually type things without dying. The keyboard is large, blocky, and so loud. Loud in comparison to my laptop keys, anyway. I can type things now, but I don't like to unless I'm the only one in the room because I feel like it's annoying to hear the unending clacking of keys. Especially given how fast I type, and how much I type. Ugh.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Might come up with more. I liked to say it sarcastically before, but it's not a joke anymore, this thing is literally falling apart.
