• my bedroom was larger than my bedroom here in australia
  • wooden floarboards throughout the flat
  • shutters in my room that made it seem like night when i closed them
  • my old roomates, who kept their doors open with bricks, so when i opened my door in the morning, i could see / hear all of them
  • my heavy door that slammed shut, and when i was sad or angry, it made me feel really secure and safe
  • the picnic table in the kitchen fitted all six of us flatmates perfectly
  • i could see the castle from our lounge window
  • the meadows took only five minutes to walk to
  • there were always neighbours / guests in the stairwell
  • my flat was four floors up, so i felt safe that no-one could break in!
  • the afternoon sun would flood my room, and make it the warmest place in the flat
  • rain on my four paned window
  • the old comfy / broken couches in the lounge
  • the sound of the door bell that you had to ring manually
  • endless, limitless, fast, wonderful wifi
  • my non-creaky bed
  • the fact that i no did not live with my parents
  • the close proximity to every place i frequented in edinburgh
  • agatas amazing room with beautiful views of the mountains
  • alessandros kites and circus equipment
  • liz and conors purple painted walls, with posters of bands and pictures of family plastered everywhere
  • margots funny/motivational cards she placed around the flat
  • knowing that when i came home at night, there would always be someone there
  • spending time with people that shared my interests
  • cooking dinner in the kitchen whilst skyping my family or boyfriend at the time
  • buying cheap australian wine from tescos and drinking it in my room whilst watching dvds on my laptop
  • alessandro calling his girlfriend carolinas name in his italian accent - car-roll-eeeee-nahh!
  • agatas extreme hoarding of coffee cups in her room
  • the bathroom that i only seemed to use.
  • my cuboard that actually fit all of my clothes
  • the heater that dried my towels and wet clothes if i had been rained on
  • my thick doona, with a deep maroon duvet that matched my matress protector
  • hearing the building door slam and listening to the muffle of peoples voices - coming home or coming to visit
  • being able to come and go as i pleased
